Not all sugar is created equal. Almost all conventional sugarcane farms are wildly destructive, with immediate negative consequences on the land and long-term devastation on the environment. The use of pesticides allows agrochemicals to enter the natural environment, negatively impacting insect populations and aquatic life. This can lead to the destruction of habits while disrupting food chains. Conventional farms also utilize sugar field burning, which not only adds CO2 emissions to the atmosphere but also destroys organic soil matter, leading to erosion, nutrient depletion, and loss of soil fertility. This has an adverse impact on the long-term productivity of the land and can contribute to deforestation and desertification. It is for this reason we are so proud to work with Global Organics® and their partnership with Native Green Cane Project in Brazil to source high-quality, organic, and regenerative sugar. Native is the first sugar producer certified by Regenerative Organic Alliance and has proven that large-scale agriculture CAN be sustainable. Native has a closed-loop sugarcane process that puts the focus on maintaining a healthy ecosystem beyond maintaining a healthy crop. Their processes for sugarcane growth, production, and shipping to the US is 100% carbon neutral. To understand the continued impact that Global Organics make as they rethink how to grow, harvest, and produce our food, we invite you to learn more: https://lnkd.in/eQXNDztA

Our name is our purpose. “FedUp Foods” symbolizes that we’re fed up with the current extractive nature of our food system. It also expresses our passion to be fed (up) by feeding and nourishing ourselves with good food that protects the regeneration of our planet. These two ideas form the backbone of our business and inform our work to this day. It's why we source responsibly, prioritize sustainability, and strive to make a positive impact with every product we create.
