#Breastcancer is a significant #health concern, and the journey to diagnosis can be fraught with anxiety and uncertainty. False positive results often cause unnecessary stress and are a troublesome issue 🚑 With the fastMOT project, we aim to improve the accuracy of non-invasive diagnosis and significantly reduce the risk of false positives. This advancement promises to enhance patients' quality of life and contribute to the sustainability of healthcare systems by minimising unwarranted procedures and focusing resources on those in need 🙌 🔍 What is fastMOT? 🚀 Last week, the fastMOT consortium held its second in-person meeting at ICFO in Castelldefels, a coastal suburb of Barcelona. Meet the third guest of our #WomeninScience series: Xingmin LI, MRes PhD student at University College London (UCL). In the interview, she tells us about her work on fastMOT project, and how she found her #careerinscience. The aim of this PhD project is the development of an advanced workstation for non-invasive multi-functional #spectroscopy and #tomography based on a fast-gated single-photon camera with thousands of nanowire detectors. The goal of this research is to push biomedical photonic techniques beyond the state-of-the-art by developing and validating both on phantoms and in-vivo a unique instrumentation with top-class performances.
