30th Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans I was pleasantly surprised to receive an invitation to the Chief Diversity Officer Convening at Essence, powered by The Academy for Advancing Excellence. This event was an excellent fit for my expertise and passion for people's psychological safety, mental health well-being, and access to needed resources within all communities. This initiation-only event offered direct access to meaningful dialogue on what works from top Chief Diversity Officers from organizations such as Google, Sony Music Group, Korm Ferry, NCATS, US House of Representatives 117th & 118th, congresses, and Community Partnership at the University of Virginia, to name a few sides by side with the President & CEOs from the Global Black Economic Forum, US Acting Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, President, CEO of Center Focus International, CEO & Founder of Alignment Quest Enterprise, CEO of ABFE a Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities, COO and Senior Advisor at the Academy for ADVANCING excellence. This Professional and Personal development, mentoring, and networking opportunities from around the globe are unbelievable. I was eager to share my DEI and community engagement within the US military and my newly appointed role as VP of Community Engagement at Family and Children Services. I'm passionate about the people, the community, the access to excellent care, and the many services and opportunities to help ALL. I'm genuinely proud to have a leader who understands people and values cultural differences. CEO Adam Andreassen continues to bring in the best and most talented to join his team among the best and brightest, such as my direct boss, Dee Harris, who encourages you to release your superpower. Exciting news! Okmulgee County has received a $300K grant from the Oklahoma State Attorney General's Opioid Abatement Board. This will fund a comprehensive project tackling the opioid crisis, supporting intervention, detox, recovery, education and services for pregnant and parenting individuals. Community mental health needs addressed Broken Arrow Police and Fire Departments are taking a collaborative approach to resolving emergency situations for people suffering from mental health and substance abuse issues.  Beginning July 1, care coordinators from Family & Children's Services and GRAND Mental Health will be embedded with first responders. "Embedding these care coordinators in both our agencies will help because they can connect our citizens with the needed services,” Maj. Stephen Garrett, BAPD, said at the City Council meeting on June 16. The need is great. Last year, the departments received 590 mental health crisis calls. Specifically, there were 301 residents taken into emergency protective custody, 92 overdoses, and eight suicides. For more, go to https://lnkd.in/gPj7Fp9A

Our SafeCare Home-Based team had a great time at the Stored Goodness Community Resource Mixer at the Jane A. Malone Center in Chamberlain Park.
