In an effort to prepare our new students for the intensity of the FAME on the Coast Program, we have implemented a work readiness project. Our students were tasked with constructing a side table/step stool. Not only did they enthusiastically take on this task, they also crushed it!! They did a phenomenal job and they got the opportunity to present their projects at signing day! We are so proud of our newest addition to FAME and we cannot wait to see their progress throughout the program. FAME on the Coast would like to spotlight one of our most recent graduates: Lathan Farmer. Just after graduation, Lathan earned the opportunity to participate in this year's FAME National Conference which took place in Dallas, TX. He was able to showcase an important element of the FAME model, the End of Semester Presentation, where students showcase their acquired learning from the respective Manufacturing Core Exercise. This year, the top three students in the nation submission's were presented in front of the entire conference for a panel of judges to evaluate their final presentation. Lathan placed 2nd in flight and won the People's Choice award. We are so proud of Lathan's accomplishments and what this means for the FAME on the Coast program! FAME on the Coast would like to give a huge thank you to AM/NS Calvert for hosting our students for a site tour and interview workshop! The students enjoyed getting a behind-the-scenes look at your state-of-the-art manufacturing operations. Seeing the technology in action and talking with your team made the learning come to life. In conjunction with the tour, your HR team led an invaluable interview readiness workshop. Our students gained knowledge of essential skills like introducing themselves, highlighting qualifications, and responding to tough questions. The feedback and tips provided were a great help as they prepared for their industry interviews. We're grateful for your expertise in preparing our future workforce. We would also like to give a special thanks to Outokumpu for hosting an ethics activity. As we train the next generation of advanced manufacturing professionals, it's crucial we emphasize the importance of ethics. Upholding strong ethical standards is essential for both individual success and maintaining trust within companies and industries. Partnerships like this that provide hands-on experiences are so important in our training programs. We appreciate AM/NS Calvert and Outokumpu for going above and beyond to support our mission. We are pleased to announce that Kambren Hale has been awarded the Academic Achievement Award for the 2024 Graduating Class of FAME on the coast. Kam has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout the entire duration of his time in the FAME program. We are extremely proud of Kam and this incredible accomplishment. To maintain straight A's while completing the challenging curriculum required by the FAME program is no small feat. It is a true testament to Kam’s work ethic, time management skills, and passion for learning. From day one, Kam has challenged himself academically by taking on the difficult course loads and seeking out additional learning opportunities wherever possible. Kam approached every assignment and exam with diligence, care, and a determination for excellence. His consistent dedication to scholastic achievement has served as an inspiration to his peers.
