Calling all local LA #Facade Geeks! The FTI LA-hub is an informal band of roving facade-forward lunatics that love to gather and rock all-things-facades. This time, we are planning a meetup in #DTLA and a leisurely stroll that will take us in and dissect some of the unique (and maybe not-so-unique) facades along the way. We'll post the meetup location soon, so stay tuned, but we'll end up at McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. office at 515 S. FLOWER ST., SUITE 3600, where we've been graciously invited for a little post-stroll networking and refreshments. There is no charge for this event, but registration is required. Registrations are limited and will be honored on a first-come basis, so register now and: Join the fun! 📅 Date: July 25, 2024 ⏱️Time: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM 📍 Location: Downtown Los Angeles Register for FREE & stay tuned for the exact meetup location: https://lnkd.in/gKy4SsfN #FTILAHub #DTLAFacades #Architecture #Architects #AEC #Facades #FacadeDesign #Networking

July’s blog is posted, hosted by USGlass Magazine®. This month I lay out my thoughts on the challenges to achieving comfortable, low-carbon lighting in buildings that I was invited to share by Eleanor S. Lee at a symposium at Berkeley Labs recently. Since my premise is that daylight not electric light must be the prime focus of decarbonized, comfortable daylight, the biggest issue I see is not the lack of commercially available daylighting systems, but that codes don’t require buildings to be daylit, nor do they require them to be thermally or visually comfortable. Read the whole blog at the link below. Chris Flint Chatto, Marc LaFrance, Brendon Levitt, Stephen Selkowitz, Lisa Heschong, Duane Jonlin, Matt Franks, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, Richard Braunstein, Mic Patterson PhD, National Glass Association (NGA).
