The Alliance for Transportation Electrification (ATE) is pleased to be a sponsor of the second National E-Mobility Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Conference hosted by EVNoire. This conference is designed for e-mobility, transportation, environmental, and social justice professionals and advocates from government, utilities, mobility companies, nonprofits, NGOs and other organizations. Interactive sessions explore best practices and lessons learned, highlight case studies, explore tools, build capacity to forge new relationships and tackle difficult conversations. The conference spotlights voices from all corners of the industry including rideshare drivers on electrifying the workforce, indigenous people and their unique mobility obstacles, and utility providers and how they are working to benefit consumers. A special congratulations to Terry Travis (EV Travis) and Shelley Francis (Dr. EV Shelley) and their team for highlighting these important issues. #NEMDEI2023 #Sustainability #Emobility #EVcharging

Now that more and more automakers are gearing up to launch a broad portfolio of #ElectricVehicles, the need for ubiquitous and reliable charging is more critical than ever. Investment by electric utilities can accelerate the deployment of fast chargers in particular, especially if regulators allow cost recovery for proactive infrastructure development based on planning. Contrary to the traditional reactionary manner in which the grid evolved, today's new carbon reduction and electrification goals have, “changed the rules” on utility spending, making costs to grow charging acceptable to many stakeholders, responded Philip Jones, Executive Director of the Alliance for Transportation Electrification (ATE). ATE issued in June 2023 a whitepaper advocating for a bigger role for utilities’ in charger deployment. Investments in utility distribution systems have become necessary and pivotal “market enablers” in this transition, said Jones.
