At Evergy, our highest purpose is to enhance life in the communities we serve. We know we’re not just delivering electricity. We’re delivering energy that connects us. We deliver an essential service to approximately 1.8 million residential and commercial customers to homes and businesses in Kansas and Missouri. Our electricity reaches about 4.5 million people, powering the most important life moments in the heart of our country. It’s a responsibility that energizes our culture. This is why we’re committed to sustainability, safety and a people-first mindset. Sustainability for Evergy means delivering clean, safe and reliable sources of energy today and into the future. We're embracing new energy sources to generate more power with less impact to our environment and adopting new technologies to help us be carbon neutral by 2045. With that strategy, we can achieve operational excellence. We have a mission to be the best energy company without compromising safety, sustainability and our commitment to our Kansas and Missouri communities. We move energy forward to empower a better future for all.

“I understand the value of the land, how much damage you can do and how long it takes for it to restore itself,” said Nick, a transmission construction and maintenance supervisor with Evergy. Some of our transmission employees work with people from all areas of the company including permitting, real estate, vegetation, contract groups, distribution, transmission and substation for projects across all five regions of Evergy’s service area to make sure power is reliable for all communities and businesses. #PowerOnWithEvergy #WithEvergy

Being a part of Evergy’s transmission teams means more than getting electricity to our homes and businesses. The preparation for transmission lines starts early with the real estate department and vegetation management team who stays with the project through the end - providing information from the field, communicating with landowners, trimming trees and ensuring the grounds are restored to its previous condition. “When we come back and we restore the project, we’ll come back in and seed with grass or a native mix,” said Brandon, lead vegetation management program manager. “Something that’ll encourage there to be lower growing species instead of tall trees under the lines.” #PowerOnWithEvergy #WithEvergy

Have you ever seen those towering transmission lines along the highway? Evergy's transmission team is responsible for those lines and getting generated electricity from plants to substations so that it can find its way into our homes and businesses. Load growth, generation changes and compliance obligations are just a few of the issues this team works on regularly. With each decision they make, they're doing so with cost-effectiveness in mind. "How can we not just solve it, but how can we do it in the least cost and the most effective for the future?" said Jonah, transmission engineer. "It is kind of a big puzzle piece for us and it's real fun to put together." As transmission line engineers, this team is looking at ways to improve the transmission system and provide a better service to customers and that their supporting all weather conditions. #PowerOnWithEvergy #WithEvergy

“Safety is every day,” said Allyson, senior director of safety and performance management. “I really do think safety is every single person’s responsibility.” To celebrate National Safety Month, on this episode of Power On, we talk with the safety and training team about how they support Evergy to create a safer culture. Safety is a core value at Evergy and this team is looking not only at the safety numbers, but the person behind that number. This broad group of employees within the safety and training department who support different teams are all working to make sure employees feel safe when they work at Evergy. #WithEvergy #PowerOnWithEvergy #SafetyIsEvergy
