On Thursday, September 12, 2024 Evergreen Health and Community Access Services (CAS) were joined by elected officials and neighbors to break ground at our new comprehensive health care center at the intersection of Kensington and Bailey Avenues. More information about this historic project can be found at KenBaileyProject.org. We’re so proud of this project and the opportunity to celebrate this major milestone. We’re another step closer to bringing accessible, quality health care, pharmacy, and community services to this neighborhood, where the nearest medical provider is currently 1.4 miles away. While the Ken-Bailey neighborhood will be most directly impacted by this new facility, we are hopeful that this model of accessible community care will become an example for addressing health inequity across the nation. https://lnkd.in/ggwY7rfZ

“It’s critical that the Ken-Bailey Project is unconditionally accessible and culturally sensitive,” said Ray Ganoe, president and CEO of Evergreen Health in a recent Buffalo News article. “Our goal is for this to be a community project, not just an Evergreen and CAS project, but a shared space where we can come together and really move the needle on health equity in this community.” Read the full Buffalo News article published by Jonathan Epstein here: https://bit.ly/47py7sC

We're proud and excited that this project will bring accessible, quality health care, pharmacy, and community services to this neighborhood, where the nearest medical provider is currently 1.4 miles away. At Evergreen, we understand the complexity of risk factors that may lead people to consider suicide, and we’re dedicated to finding ways to support and improve these circumstances. Although therapy and psychiatric care are key resources in preventing suicide, they’re not always enough to address the social and environmental factors that affect a person’s mental health. Having access to quality medical care, healthy nutrition, safe housing, transportation, stigma-free HIV care, non-judgmental drug user services, and gender-affirming care, are all part of suicide prevention.
