I could organize team outings for my employees that no one attends. I hear about those a lot. A company organizes a team building event at a local park or hosts a family fun day for their team members' families, but barely anyone shows up. Why? Usually because their employees have no desire to see each other more than they HAVE to. That makes me sad. I'm always working to create an environment for my team that encourages them to form deeper relationships with their coworkers outside of the office. It doesn't just give them a good excuse to get out of the office on a Wednesday afternoon, but rather an opportunity to form a relationship that will make their time at the office together an overall better experience. When we have the opportunity to see our peers outside of the office, it makes us more empathetic to who they are as a person. And usually that creates a much better working relationship. Here's some of our team yesterday at Top Golf celebrating a great September! 👏⛳️ Very proud of all of their hard work! Nik #leadership #workingrelationships #culturebuilding

I would much rather hire someone with potential than experience. Here’s what I mean by that 👇 Hiring a "finished product" is overrated. I’m not looking for someone who’s already done the exact job I need them to do. In fact, I prefer when they haven’t! What I’m searching for is potential and, just as important, thought process. In interviews, I don’t ask for a history lesson. I ask how they would approach something they've never done before. Their answer tells me EVERYTHING I need to know. If they can think through the problem, they’ll be easier to onboard and coach. Here’s the thing: If someone can’t visualize success, I know they’ll need more upfront coaching. And that’s okay too. It’s about knowing how to ADAPT your onboarding based on potential, not a polished resume. Finished products might look good on paper, but growth and adaptability? That’s where the real value lies. What do you look for first and foremost in your hiring process? Nik #hiring #staffing #hiringtips

Correct caulking can make or break your reputation. Sound extreme? It's not. When it comes to punch list work, attention to detail is everything. Proper caulking may seem like a minor task, but it’s one of the finishing touches that clients notice first. Any imperfections stand out like a sore thumb. 👍 A small gap or poorly sealed joint can lead to leaks, drafts, or long-term damage. And when a project is nearly complete, the last thing anyone wants is to go back and fix a preventable issue. 🤦♂️ Attention to detail during caulking is not just about aesthetics; it’s about ensuring durability and quality for years to come. Whether it's sealing windows, doors, or joints, taking the extra time to do it right could be the difference between a job well done and one that leaves a bad impression. Don’t let the smallest oversight ruin the biggest projects. 🤨 #skilledtrades #punchlist #construction #attentiontodetail

If your skilled trades staffing agency doesn't make you feel like this, there's something wrong. The trades folks you're hiring from a staffing firm should arrive On time ⏰ In full PPE 🦺 Experienced with your unique project needs 🛠 Ready to tackle whatever curve balls you may throw their way 💪 They should walk in with the goal of project success. Their eye on the prize. And a willingness to work hard and lend a hand where and when they can. If they're not, it may be time for a change. #skilledtrades #staffing #construction

Stop hiring recruiters. BE the recruiter. Hiring recruiters is probably one of the least enjoyable parts of your job as a hiring manager or business owner. ☹️ But with the right tools, you might never need to rely on a staffing agency again. 🤯 I know, I sound crazy, right? Here are three of my favorite recruiting tools that can help you streamline your hiring process 👇 LinkedIn Recruiter 🔎 ✅ Offers a robust search platform to find and connect with top candidates, especially for professional roles. ✅ While it costs between $5,000 to $7,000 per seat per year, it’s a great investment if you're making multiple hires. Indeed Smart Sourcing 🤓 ✅ A subscription service ($400-$600) that sends messages to qualified candidates directly. ✅ Ideal for more field-based roles where candidates may not be active on LinkedIn. 👣 Applicant Tracking System (ATS) ✅ A streamlined ATS doesn't have to be expensive but is crucial for tracking your candidates and managing hiring stages. ✅ A must-have for any company looking to stay organized in their recruiting process. With these tools, you can take CONTROL of your recruitment and cut out the need for staffing firms! ✂️ What other recruiting tools out there do you recommend? Nik #recruiting #staffing #hiring
