🌟 Celebrating Milestones Together 🌟 Congratulations to the teams of ECOM Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd. cocoa subsidiaries AMS Cameroon and Tulip Cocoa Processing Ltd. Nigeria for their successful completion of Equal Origins' #BetterTogether Workshop this Spring. As a result, the teams now have targeted Gender Equity Development Plans (GEDPs) informed by the Gender Equity Index (GEI) which help ensure their programs better reach and benefit women farmers. 👏 This accomplishment marks a significant step forward in our shared commitment to gender equity and sustainable development within the cocoa supply chains. Through collaborative learning, reflection, and the application of innovative tools and approaches, ECOM’s teams are leading the charge in fostering inclusive and equitable origin programs. 👏 A special shoutout to Billy (AMS Cameroon), 👏 Favour (Tulip Cocoa Nigeria), and 👏 Annemiek Righarts (THEOBROMA Chocolat, Amsterdam) for their leadership and insights throughout the program. Great read with fascinating insights into the game-changing role that women play in conservation and environmental stewardship, and also the barriers they face to taking up such roles. If we really want to tackle climate change, conserve forests and species and have a more peaceful world, women need to be at the forefront and supported in their roles - both with financial resources and advocacy to break through the barriers they face. It's the '16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence,' a powerful movement to eliminate violence against women and girls.   Gender-based violence has no place in our world. Yet GBV persists as one of the most widespread and deeply ingrained human rights violations affecting more than an estimated 1 in 3 women, a figure that has remained largely unchanged over the last decade. GBV also impacts women in coffee and cocoa farming communities - though it is not well researched, understood or discussed in industry fora, nor addressed in typical sustainability or responsible sourcing programs.
