We're looking for eligible organizations in Maryland and South Carolina to participate as host organizations in the 2024 Housing Justice Program! In an effort to expand the work of the 2022 Housing Justice Program in these two states, we're seeking to allocate approximately 15 Fellows to serve a two year term supporting low-income individuals who are currently or at risk of experiencing housing instability and involuntary displacement. We're excited to share that 2000 Fellow Ahilan Arulanantham, Professor from Practice and Faculty Co-Director of the Center for Immigration Law and Policy (CILP) at the University of California, Los Angeles - School of Law, has been named the next recipient of the Equal Justice Works Distinguished Alumni Award. A longtime leader in the public interest field and MacArthur Foundation "Genius Grant" recipient, Ahilan has distinguished himself as a passionate access-to-justice advocate all throughout his career and we are thrilled to celebrate his work and impact. "I will always be grateful to Equal Justice Works for giving me the opportunity to start my career doing immigrants' rights advocacy," said Ahilan. "The Fellowship truly changed my life, opening up new vistas that would have been impossible without it." Ahilan will be honored on October 15, 2024, at the Scales of Justice in Washington, D.C.
