"This November, Colorado voters can support members of law enforcement and bolster public safety across our state. Proposition 130, or “Back the Blue,” would invest $350 million—without one dime of new tax money — to support families of fallen first responders, law enforcement officers’ training and retention, and increase salaries to reflect competitive market compensation. According to the Common Sense Institute (CSI), crime rates have risen 26% in Colorado since 2011. Just this week, U.S. News & World Report found Colorado to be the third most dangerous state in the nation. There is an unarguable need for increased policing across our communities. Criminals prey on dense populations and rural communities without hesitation. They do not respect the law or boundaries. Because of our open southern border, dangerous drugs are infiltrating our streets and schools, and lack of adequate, hard-hitting anti-crime legislation and the decriminalization of property damage, illicit drugs, break-ins and motor vehicle theft, and even felony murder … Coloradans are facing a public safety calamity." https://lnkd.in/gqagtBMR
GUEST OPINION: Fight crime, support first responders, vote “yes” on Proposition 130
