"I'm so busy saying 'Marco', that I don't listen for 'Polo'..." ...said Tim Ferris in a recent podcast. How true it is for business leaders to do so much but forget to stop and listen for a response to all their actions. I recently took a "Clarity Break" where I dedicated a period of time to stare at a blank legal pad and just wait for ideas to come as I contemplated questions like, "What's working, what's not working," "What's the most important thing I'm not doing that could transform the business," "Am I on track to achieve my 1-year plan"? My biggest thought exercise was... 'better ways to connect with those who want my help'. Service providers who don't advertise and rely solely on word-of-mouth referrals understand this challenge. How do I convey my value without reeking of commission-breath? How can my requests to "touch base" and "connect" be perceived as authentic when I myself get so many of these and ignore them? How do I explain my job when my title creates more confusion, and the generic term "business coach" makes people roll their eyes? After a few hours of contemplation and no obvious answer, I'm ironically reminded to just keep listening for "Polo". EOS Worldwide #claritybreak
