The U.S. has made historic progress on climate in recent years. The country's biggest public investment in clean energy and climate action is making sure people across the nation have access to safer drinking water, children take a healthier ride to school and the cars we drive are cleaner for us and the planet. We can build on this progress to continue to protect the environment and communities now and for generations to come. Let's go – together. 💚 https://lnkd.in/ebkiZSdN

A new peer-reviewed analysis published in Science Magazine by EDF looks at wetlands at risk of losing federal protections following a Supreme Court opinion. This opinion jeopardizes the health of millions of acres of U.S. wetlands – and now, we have an idea of just how big that impact could be. Discover more 👉 https://lnkd.in/g6YRmtk8

#ClimateWeekNYC is in full swing, and we’re thrilled with the ambition and solutions-focused energy at EDF’s “Climate Power Moves for 2025 Leveling-up Corporate Climate Action” event! Our expert Elizabeth Sturcken took the stage to speak on how companies are acting on climate despite facing major headwinds: “Sustainability solutions are becoming cheaper and more efficient every day. The net zero economy is not some far-off idea—it’s here, and it's growing. Companies that innovate to meet this moment are already seeing their market share grow. Just like every other wave of innovation, climate-friendly services are poised to be the next big thing.” – Elizabeth Sturcken Throughout this week, we can all applaud companies sharing new sustainability announcements. When the work is this challenging, we say take time to celebrate “wins.” 👏  As our insightful panelists Anjali Grover, Akshat Rathi, Aman Singh, Brigitte Hoyer Gosselink, Kelly Fisher (she/her) and Neil Yeoh share, major companies are advancing strategies to go after and cut gigatons of emissions. 🙌 While there is still a lot of work to be done and challenges from all sides, the risks of climate change are only increasing the business case for action. Looking for resources to find your sector’s path to #netzero? Explore the Net Zero Action Accelerator here: https://netzeroaction.org/ Thank you to our wonderful panelists and #SolutionsHouse for another great partnership for this event! #EDFClimateWeek

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” And for investors in the emerging hydrogen market to make their own luck they need to be able to identify the right opportunities. But hype, market and regulatory uncertainty, and limited knowledge about the underlying science behind it can make finding the right opportunities feel like finding a needle in a haystack. At NYC Climate Week we're helping investors navigate the hydrogen landscape and choose investments with the most potential to deliver climate benefits using this guide: https://lnkd.in/gfyed3KR #EDFClimateWeek

One of the things I love most about my job is getting to talk with EDF’s supporters. They are passionate, engaged, inspiring and I’m so fortunate to have been able to meet up with some of them at Climate Week. I hosted a panel discussion on the three Fs that need to be top of mind for the next 18 months leading up to COP30 in Brazil: forests, finance and fuels. This November at COP29, countries are working to agree on a new goal to scale climate finance rapidly. This will determine how much money developing countries will receive for climate action, and how that money will reach the countries and communities that need it most. In 2025, each country will submit an updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) – their national climate policies and plans to meet the Paris Agreement goals. These updated plans need to include more ambitious commitments towards cutting emissions to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. Those new climate plans are due by COP30 in Belém, Brazil next year, where we will also see a major focus on forests and biodiversity, as the conference is taking place at the frontlines of this climate fight – the Brazilian Amazon. The next 18 months are like a trail of dominoes. And at EDF we’re working hard to ensure this series of events sets the world up for success. Because if all the dominoes fall, we’ll be on a path to a much more sustainable future.

Carolyn Kousky, our AVP for Economics and Policy, spoke today at Techonomy Climate NYC: Driving Sustainable Innovation, where she explained disaster insurance in the U.S. and highlighted New Tools for a More Resilient Future. “EDF is working with researchers to answer the question: Should the federal government cover more weather perils, like wind and wildfire insurance, and what should that look like? It's crucial to avoid creating programs with unintended consequences or perverse incentives. We must rethink the public sector's role in managing risk, determining who pays, and how to incentivize risk reduction.” #ClimateWeekNYC

Engaging conversations at our #ClimateWeekNYC event “Innovating Together: Leadership Roundtable on Food & Ag Climate Solutions” at #RegenHouse where our experts and other food sustainability leaders discussed collaboration as a tool to unlock and deliver transformative climate action across the food supply chain. Because the food system accounts for about 1/3 of all global climate emissions, food companies have a BIG opportunity to drive down warming. "One of the main things sustainability leaders say they need is more opportunities to learn from their peers about both what is - and isn’t! - working. Today, we created space for those conversations and together seeded new ideas to build business resilience, accelerate climate action, and transform the future of food." – Katie Anderson 🐄 🌾 Climate Week’s bottom line for the food sector? You have a tremendous opportunity to collaborate across the value chain to make an impact on climate change, and ensure supply chain resilience for farmers, suppliers and companies. We’re so thankful for amazing guest speakers Henri Bruxelles and Michael Kobori (he/him) for sharing their sustainability insights and their work on the Dairy Methane Action Alliance. This transformative impact is not possible from one company alone, and collaboration between movers-and-shakers is key for accelerating climate action. Learn more about this impressive work and connect with our experts to learn how to future-proof your business: https://lnkd.in/eeVxCeva #EDFClimateWeek
