TRATOLOW stands for Transition towards low emissions and climate-resilient economy in the Western Balkans and Türkiye. The project provides support for the implementation of the EU climate acquis, now including the fit-for-55 package. This week's TRATALOW workshop in Tirana discussed the steps once the National Energy and Climate Plan is adopted. Implementation, monitoring and evaluation were some of the keywords for these very rich discussions.   Jean-Sébastien Broc presented key aspects for implementing the energy savings obligation (Article 8 #EnergyEfficiencyDirective) The figure about the various results of Member States in 2014-2020 raised questions about what makes success or failure in this field, highlighting the importance of having policies in place that can deliver energy savings from the start of the obligation period.   Thanks to Danijela Bozanic Philippitsch Violeta Maria Fougstedt-Becker Anna Sokołowska for their invitation and excellent organisation. 🏆The results are in: only five Member States submitted their final #NECP updates on time! We commend Denmark, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Sweden for respecting the June 30 deadline. 🤝 We hope to see the rest of the 22 EU Member States submitting their final NECP updates as soon as possible, as the timely submission of these plans is key to the effective implementation of the 2023 #EED. 

2nd ENSMOV Plus national workshop - Budapest On the 27th of June MEKH (Magyar Energetikai és Közmű-szabályozási Hivatal) had the pleasure of holding the 2nd ENSMOV Plus national workshop in Budapest. The workshop provided an excellent opportunity to exchange information and discuss experiences between MEKH as the regulatory authority and the energy auditors/auditing companies as the implementing bodies. Understanding each other's perspectives and problems contributes to conduct energy audits in a uniform way, which is essential for the proper monitoring of energy savings under Article 8 of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED). The new #EnergyEfficiencyDirective sets stronger requirements for the #PublicSector. Ireland is a front-runner in this field. Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) recently hosted a study visit of the Concerted Action EED to share experience with their peers. Energy savings in the public sector can contribute to Member States' energy savings obligation, directly and also through spill-over effect (with the exemplary role of the public sector). Boosting efficiency: EU-MORE's policy review on replacing inefficient motors in industry and services Sspeakers Ivan Sangiorgio, João Fong and Ronald Piers de Raveschoot discussed policy measures needed to speed up the adoption of state-of-the-art electric motors in industry and services. Electric motors used in industrial applications often remain in service beyond their expected lifespan, limiting the benefits of newer, more efficient motors. The EU-MORE project aims to capitalize on the advantages of accelerating the replacement rate of old, inefficient motors by developing new policies. Key takeaways from this EU-MORE webinar: ⚡ The EU-MORE project has conducted a review of EU policies supporting the early replacement of electric motors, highlighting the predominance of policies addressing only economic barriers. ⚡Only a few programs in the EU have tried to tackle information and behavioral barriers. ⚡The replacement of inefficient motors is generally integrated into cross-cutting programs that do not define specific eligibility criteria for motor replacement. ⚡The effectiveness of policy measures supporting motor replacement actions is difficult to assess due to the general lack of publicly available data about the policy impact.
