When it comes to opportunities for improved health, residents of the Community Housing Improvement Program in Chico had an enthusiastic partner to help them attain it. Anyone who cares for neurosurgical patients can take advantage of the wealth of information during the Neurological EduTalk set for July 19. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Zoom. Speakers will discuss: • Care for patients with spinal cord injuries and those with hemorrhagic strokes • Options available for sleep medicine • Research, recommendations and resources for Parkinson’s disease • Implicit bias in health care and how it may affect the care patients receive Enloe Health offers four continuing education contact hours for the EduTalk. Registration is free for Enloe employees, as well as students and members of the public who don’t need CE units. The fee is $10 for other non-Enloe employees. If the session has fewer than 25 pre-registrants seven days prior to the event date, the event will be canceled. Registrants will receive full refunds. Congratulations to Enloe Health’s Laboratory Services and Breast Imaging teams on winning the Program Innovation Award. The two departments were recognized during Enloe’s Spirit of Planetree Awards. The Program Innovation Award honors the team that best demonstrates the Planetree philosophy of providing person-centered care and significantly improves the experience of patients and their families and care partners.

Congratulations to John Whitman, M.D., Emergency Medicine, and Steven Wahlen, M.D., Radiation Oncology, on winning Enloe Health’s Physician Champion Award. Dr. Whitman and Dr. Wahlen were recognized during Enloe’s Spirit of Planetree Awards. The Physician Champion Award honors those who support and exemplify person-centered care while also serving as role models among their peers.

FlightCare, Enloe Health’s air ambulance program, has been part of the North State’s history for nearly 40 years. Whether it’s at a scene of an accident or transporting a patient from the medical center to another facility, it has assisted more than 25,000 patients and their families during some of the most stressful times of their lives.   May 31 marked another milestone in FlightCare’s history: the arrival of a new Airbus H130 aircraft for the fleet.
