Check out our Founder & CEO Teague Egan ⚡on a live Schwab Network segment discussing where TSLA & GM Stand in the EV Landscape! "Despite recent dips in #EV #stocks, Teague Egan of EnergyX believes the EV industry is here to stay. "The floodgates have opened" for the industry, according to Teague, but he believes evolving the #supplychain will take time. He names #Tesla (TSLA), Ford (F), and #GeneralMotors (GM) as names to watch." https://lnkd.in/gvyG55fg
About us
EnergyX is a sustainable energy company focused on direct lithium extraction, refinery and battery technology. Combining these technologies from brine to battery will create a process dramatically lowering the cost of lithium resources. The company’s goal is to develop technology and assets that turn it into one of the premier, low-cost lithium providers for the growing lithium-ion battery industry. The electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage revolution is generating high demand for lithium, with some analysts forecasting orders-of-magnitude demand increases. As the EV market rapidly expands, millions of large-scale battery packs will be in demand. The estimated annual production of EV’s is 20,000,000 per year. For one 85-kWh car, the price of the lithium in the battery is approximately $2,945 per car. Residential (home) and commercial batteries are also gaining market demand traction, and California has implemented law stating by 2020 all new homes will require solar arrays. Companies already producing lithium are attempting to increase production as battery cell manufacturers are scaling up lithium-ion production with mega factories and actively acquiring raw materials through long term off-take supply agreements. In the Lithium Triangle, where 50-70% of the world’s known lithium reserve is located, current methods of extraction are based off outdated, natural evaporation pond technology, which takes 18 months, and loses 50-70% of the lithium due to co-precipitation. Our solution is to optimize and apply a highly scalable lithium extraction membrane to the process. The ability to efficiently extract and aggregate the lithium elements from the salt brines using proprietary, multi-level, synthetic ion separation techniques can increase time efficiency by 100x and recovery rate by 300%.

Teague Egan ⚡ aspires to build the world’s biggest lithium company, despite having no background in mining or chemical engineering. An early Tesla investor and devoted #ElonMusk fan, the 36-year-old previously dabbled as a sports agent and venture capitalist before landing on lithium and racking up a slew of high-profile investments. Egan brushes off his lack of experience. His real talent, he says, is “seeing things outside the box” and bringing together the most knowledgeable people in their fields. The son of the former majority owner of Alamo Rent a Car, Egan is among a flood of #entrepreneurs and energy-industry giants trying to capitalize on what is expected to be soaring demand for the silvery metal, a key component of batteries needed for electric vehicles. Egan’s outsize ambition is part of what has attracted some blue-chip backers to his company, called Energy Exploration Technologies, or EnergyX. But he’s also gained skeptics, who believe he has hyped the company’s capabilities beyond what is realistic. Read more from Julie Steinberg: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eRNuvwJf

Forbes 30 under 30 Energy ‘23 | VP of Battery Technology at EnergyX | Materials Science and Engineering Ph.D.
It’s been a long road, but our paper has finally been published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry C! A huge shout out to all of the hard work of Brandi Ransom, PhD, Austin Sendek, and Lenson P. for bringing to life the idea of outfitting a machine-learning model to better understand the underlying structural and chemical mechanisms that are responsible for solid-state anion redox and have it screen thousands of material candidates. https://lnkd.in/gbEmcGuq #science #artificialintelligence #machinelearning #innovation #technology #batteries #lithiumionbatteries #research
