AXIS (AXIS Capital) has expanded its partnership with SME-focused cyber insurtech MGA, Elpha Secure, to enhance US coverage. They will now direct new standalone cyber business submissions for policyholders with up to $100 million in revenue to Elpha via wholesale brokers. Let's get ahead of the panic for CVE-2024-30078. It's a nasty Windows vulnerability that allows an attacker to perform remote code execution over Wifi, and yes, that is incredibly bad. This is why you shouldn't panic: - There is currently no known POC (proof of concept) out there for hackers to know how this attack works. - This attack has not been observed in the wild. - The vulnerability requires physical proximity to an attacker. - This vulnerability was patched in the June 11th Microsoft "Patch Tuesday" so unless you have turned off automatic updates in Windows or you haven't rebooted since then, you should already be patched. - If you're concerned about whether or not you've patched you can manually intitate an update by doing this: For Windows 10 or 11, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click “Check for updates”. There's no reason to buy into the usual security doom and gloom here, just make sure your Windows updates are current, keep calm, and carry on.
