One in three Americans has a condition where food is part of the standard of care. Yet, half of them struggle with consistent access to nutrient-dense foods and the support they need to be healthy. The promise of food as medicine offers hope and real solutions to empower people to live their best lives. That's why we celebrate Food is Medicine Day every September 14th. Initiated in 2021 by Food Equality Initiative, Inc. and Attane Health (formerly known as Free From Market), Food is Medicine Day was created to raise awareness of the challenges many face in accessing nutritious food and the opportunity for private enterprise, nonprofits, and governments to collaborate. Dina Hawthorne, Co-Founder and President of the Elijah-Alavi Foundation, is honored and grateful to be a part of the Arts and Care 2024 event, Hosted by Michael Judkins, founder of October13 Entertainment. This inspiring event will take place at the Charles A. Brown Ice House, 56 River St, Bethlehem, PA 18018, on August 30th and 31st, 2024. As an advocate for mental health, On August 31st, Dina will discuss the important topics of mental health and grief, exploring their deep connection to self-care and healing. Additionally, the Elijah-Alavi Foundation will be present to provide essential information on food allergies, raising awareness and support for this critical cause. Together, we are excited to engage with the community and merge the world of creative arts with health and wellness. We look forward to sharing resources, performances, and interactive sessions that inspire and empower all attendees. EVENT PROGRAM: August 30th, 2024—On Friday night, immerse yourself in Allan Meyerson's captivating jazz stylings as you unleash your creative side with renowned artist Michael Freeman's guided painting session. If you paint, Michael Freeman will instruct and guide you. Supplies provided: Canvas, Easel, Apron, and Paintbrushes. August 31st, 2024- Saturday Afternoon, Noon to 4 pm: Engage in creative and entertaining performances, from poetry to stage actors, while learning about wellness/ health and overall care.
