On a mission to Make Good Famous. Bringing visibility to the work of changemakers & inspiring action on a global scale.

About us

We're on a mission to Make Good Famous – so that people can find, follow and celebrate social impact leaders – and get inspired to drive change themselves. Join us. We are committed to bringing visibility to the work of changemakers, creating a fanbase for good, and inspiring action on an international scale. We believe that people driving positive change should be as recognizable and influential as any celebrity; and that the communities and the issues they champion to be seen, understood, and valued. On our page, you'll get inspired by some of the most incredible social impact organizations and leaders in the world - each of whom have been recognized through one of our three main initiatives: The Elevate Prize: Every year, through our signature program, we champion 10 social entrepreneurs for their impact and leadership. These leaders receive $300,000 in unrestricted funding and resources like leadership development services, mentorship, and capacity-building opportunities to help increase recognition and grow impact. The Elevate Prize GET LOUD Award: Follow us on Instagram, where we award $25,000 in unrestricted funding every month to a grassroots organization nominated by our community. The Elevate Prize GET LOUD award is designed to fuel grassroots movements and organizers on the frontlines committed to collective action and building power among communities. The Elevate Prize Catalyst Award: This award recognizes prominent individuals who are using their influence to inspire action (winners include Malala, Trevor Noah, Matt Damon, Michael J Fox, Amal and George Clooney). Elevate Prize Catalyst Award recipients receive $250,000 in unrestricted funding to dedicate to a cause of their choosing. These partnerships create a bridge to traditional fan bases and tap into the world of entertainment to inspire more people and make more impact. Join us on our mission to Make Good Famous!

  • Kaira Jewel Lingo at our #MakeGoodFamous Summit on the power of generative rest: “Stillness and action are not at odds with each other.” We learned so much from our time with Kaira Jewel that we’re keeping with us as our team takes time to invest in our collective well-being this week. • “Everything that I need is within me.” Team Elevate is carrying OTV | Open Television Elijah’s words from our #MakeGoodFamous Summit with us this week while we are OOO for our second annual wellbeing week. Wellbeing isn’t about expensive yoga classes (though we love yoga) or buying into the latest wellness trends. It’s about acknowledging our needs. It’s about rest. It’s about breathing, healing, and quiet growth. We encourage you, as people who care deeply about others (as we know our followers do), to take time for yourself in whatever way you choose to practice self-care. We cannot heal the world without first healing ourselves. #mentalhealth #worklifebalance #socialgood

We’re thrilled to share some highlights from two of our team members, Esther Wang and Ashley Jacobs, who recently visited five of our Elevate Prize winners across Africa. Admittedly, a bit of FOMO from the rest of us, but we are so inspired by their visit! Swipe to see some of the incredible work of our Elevate Prize winners! 1-2: Kigali, Rwanda with Gayatri Datar and the EarthEnable team. The houses are made from hyper-local, earth-based materials, and Ashley and Esther got to learn about new innovations for stronger earthen homes, and meet the staff and masons who make it all possible! 3-4 Kigali, Rwanda with Isabelle Kamariza and the Solid'Africa team who have built an amazing ecosystem to provide nutritionally-thoughtful food to hospital patients and public schools! Our team saw the process, from visiting their regenerative farm, to preparing a gourmet meal in their industrial, spotless kitchen, to serving warm nutritious meals at a hospital and public school. 5-6 Uganda with Mpindi Abaas and the Media Challenge Initiative (MCI) team! We toured their offices, which were buzzing with energy, and met MCI alumni - now professional radio hosts and news anchors, and we got to see the SDG Media tour bus that visits local communities to get the best stories on the ground! BIG things are coming from Media Challenge Initiative. 7-8 Nairobi, Kenya with Wawira Njiru and her organization Food For Education. We saw their ever-expanding warehouse, and visited the Giga Kitchen - Africa’s largest green kitchen that cooks 60,000 meals a day! In total, Food4Education serves 330,000 meals to students in 1,040 schools every day! 9 Nairobi, Kenya with the Clean Start Africa team who were so kind to share their incredibly painful but redemptive stories with us. They recently launched more handicraft skill training for formerly incarcerated women, and are working on expanding plans for a safe house. Stay tuned for more from these inspirational visits!

  • This is how Tiana Day became a part of our Elevate family. She grabbed a mic, and has never stopped speaking up for youth representation and incorporating wellbeing practices in social impact work. She is an incredible representative of her generation. She’s fearless, responsive, and tenacious, and she understands the power of her voice and her position. Here, she talks about the generational imperative to take power and - literally - be the change you want to see in the world.

  • Introducing our July Elevate Prize GET LOUD Award winner, Statefree e.V.! Did you know that up to 15 million people around the world don’t have a nationality? Members of the “stateless” community are not recognized as citizens in any country. Since they aren’t granted a passport or any other official forms of identification, its exceedingly difficult to access education, housing, health care...the list goes on. It has complex and lasting impacts on families and communities and is an issue with not nearly enough visibility. When founder Christiana Bukalo, who has been stateless since birth, looked to find more understanding about her situation, she found a huge void of information and communication. So she decided to start Statefree - a platform to share stories, build community, and uncover some of the truths she had been seeking. Based in Germany, but operating globally, Statefree is working to empower stateless people through building visibility and community and fighting for equal rights. Learn more about Statefree, and join us in welcoming them to the Elevate family! https://statefree.world/

  • In honor of #MalalaDay, we’re revisiting one of our favorite moments, when we presented Malala with the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award!

Culture is power. It’s everywhere, from the media we consume to the clothes we wear. It has the power to inspire others and make world-changing impact. So why aren’t more changemakers at its center?

Today is #MalalaDay (and Malala's birthday), so I wanted to take a moment to celebrate this amazing changemaker and human being who we are so proud to have in the Elevate family. Every year on July 12, Malala meets with young women to discuss the challenges girls continue to face in accessing educational opportunities. Today, she will meet with Afghan students in London to hear their stories, raise global awareness, and advocate for change. Two years ago, Joe and I had the honor of presenting Malala with the The Elevate Prize Foundation Catalyst Award for her work championing girls’ education through the Malala Fund and advocating for the voices of other young activists. The $250,000 prize money helped create alternative forms of education in Afghanistan, the only country in the world that bans a girl's right to a secondary education.  Malala continues to bring attention to this crisis with the recent launch of the Afghanistan Initiative, breaking down barriers to education and advocating for an end to gender apartheid. I’m also grateful to Malala and the Malala Fund for inspiring our own foundation’s wellbeing week, where our whole team takes time off together to ensure real rest, something Malala’s team has been doing for several years. Malala is living proof that one person’s passion and resilience can inspire global change. Thank you, Malala, and Happy Birthday!
