The 2024 Summer Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) Meeting kicked off with a bang today in Asheville, NC! E84-er Jason Gilman contributed to the first-day excitement with his talk focused on the hype surrounding #AI and #ML, and how these concepts can be applied to search and discovery with geospatial data. If you missed his talk or if you're interested in learning more about these ideas come meet up with us at ESIP this week -- or just send us a message. We'd love to chat!

Our Satellite Geospatial Accelerator is next in our list of solutions we're sharing this week! This solution is the key to bootstrapping your ground segment ingest, archive, processing, & distribution functionality. With our team's level of deep, industry-specific knowledge, we can bring down your cost of implementation while developing custom elements and distribution pipelines based on STAC to boost your functionality and train your team on the processes we use. If you have any questions about how this might look in action, send us a message! Check it out and learn more: https://lnkd.in/eby5FKH2

We're having a great experience this week in DC at the #AWSSummit connecting with folks like Murty Chappidi while learning a lot from the AWS team and other partner organizations!
I had the pleasure of meeting the incredible team from Element 84 at the AWS Summit in Washington DC. Their innovative solutions in the aerospace and satellite sectors are truly impressive! 🚀🛰️ Element 84 is leading the way with their FilmDrop suite, which ingests, archives, processes, analyzes, and distributes geospatial data on AWS. Their custom deployments provide clients with high-resolution satellite imagery, helping tackle some of Earth’s biggest challenges. It was great to connect with such a talented and forward-thinking team. Looking forward to seeing more groundbreaking work from Element 84 in the future! As humans alter the land around them, imagine being able to see how changes in land cover could impact communities and their water resources – all without ever lifting a shovel or operating a bulldozer. That's what anyone in the world can do for free on ModelMyWatershed.org. This tool has been years in the making, and it's what brought me to the 2024 SatSummit last week, a conference for exploring the vast potential of satellite and airborne imagery to deepen our understanding of our planet. It was an honor to showcase groundbreaking work from our team at Stroud Water Research Center, particularly our expansion into global data with Model My Watershed. I was also inspired by the other Earth-observing scientists and practitioners I met. A highlight of the event was Friday's Satellites and Water session, led by Mike Spaeth and joined by esteemed colleagues Colby Fisher, Ph.D., Katie Wetstone, and Tyler Anderson. Together, we delved into the current and future applications of satellite imagery, focusing on areas such as flood quantification and modeling harmful algal blooms. Their dedication and innovative thinking are driving us towards a more sustainable and compassionate world. On behalf of the Stroud Center, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our partners and collaborators, including Element 84 and LimnoTech, whose support has been invaluable. Special thanks also to our recent funders, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Environmental Equity Division, for their commitment to our shared vision of environmental stewardship and equity.
