Today, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced an additional $965 million available to school districts in the latest round of funding for the Clean School Bus Rebate Program, created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Each day, more than 20 million American students ride school buses, and nearly all of them run on diesel, emitting dangerous exhaust that our children breathe, contributing to our nation’s dependence on oil for transportation. By transitioning to electric school buses, students can breathe easier, schools can achieve significant cost savings, and we can power our vehicles with electricity produced domestically through diverse sources. School buses are ideal for electrification because they run on set routes every day and return to a depot at night where they can be easily charged. Because electric school buses have lower fuel and maintenance costs, schools can save $6,000 per bus annually and more than $100,000 over the lifetime of the bus, which can go toward school supplies, staffing, and extracurricular programs. Plus, buses with vehicle-to-grid technology can even provide backup power to schools and shelters during emergencies, helping keep our communities safer. It’s no wonder schools, parents, and students all love the many benefits of going electric. The Electrification Coalition has a variety of resources to help school districts apply for this critical funding and looks forward to working with communities across the country to deploy more electric buses. We thank the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its commitment to giving our nation’s children a cleaner, quieter ride to school each day. https://lnkd.in/gEx-9BiN

Congratulations 🎉 to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) on opening the state's third NEVI-funded EV charging station in Aston, PA. “PennDOT is swiftly leveraging NEVI funding in collaboration with private investment to address gaps in Pennsylvania's expanding network of high-speed fast chargers along the national highway system," said Joint Office of Energy and Transportation Executive Director Gabe Klein. “Simultaneously, cities like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are tapping into Charging and Fueling Infrastructure grant funding to build new EV charging hubs, making it easier for multifamily residents, gig workers, and underserved communities to ride and drive electric." The charging station was installed at Royal Farms at the Route 452 Exit on I-95 (Exit 2) near Route 322 in Delaware County and will support a total of eight ports, of which four ports are funded by NEVI and are capable of providing 150 kW of power to each vehicle simultaneously. The total NEVI funding awarded to the project was $253,826. Tesla will own and operate the charging station. The site, open 24/7, will provide customers with access to the station's amenities while charging. Read more ➡ https://lnkd.in/egpmzzty

As the automotive sector continues to move toward greater levels of electrification, all automakers—both EV-only and others—will play an essential role, meaning dealers will be crucial players to understand and work with. In collaboration with Atlas Public Policy, a new report summarizes interviews with dealers throughout the United States about their perspectives, experiences, and outlooks on EVs. The goal was to understand and identify solutions that could improve both consumer and dealer experiences with EVs. Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gFZPSu6Y

Check out this great resource from EC Business Council partner EVgo about today's guidance on the 30C federal tax credit, which will help expand EV charging infrastructure.
Today, the IRS released additional guidance for the 30C federal tax credit, which was expanded as part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). EVgo commends the Biden-Harris administration for their support of clean energy investments made possible through the IRA and this latest proposed guidance, which provides the certainty to the market that will bolster private sector investment in public charging, with a focus on lower income and rural communities across the U.S. While 30C applies to many alternative fuels – such as hydrogen and natural gas – EVgo is particularly excited about the benefits for electrified transportation. Learn more about what 30C means for the EV charging industry in our latest blog from Sara Rafalson, EVgo’s EVP of External Affairs and Public Policy: https://lnkd.in/gPJ3EWiG
