Sands End Arts & Community Center is a vibrant local destination within the London Borough of Chelsea and Fulham. The superstructure of this centre is built entirely from mass timber, incorporating Egoin's cross laminated timber (CLT) panels and glue laminated timber (glulam) beams. Designed with a strong focus on sustainability, the architect aimed to create an adaptable biophilic environment, with most internal planes left exposed or sensitively coated to showcase the natural beauty of timber. In 2022, Sands End Arts & Community Centre was one of six nominations for the RIBA Stirling Prize, underscoring its architectural significance and commitment to sustainable design principles. This one-story building is divided into two sections: the main area houses a multipurpose hall and café space, while the other section provides changing facilities, a common room, and a nursery. Mae architects envisioned the building to be constructed from low-carbon impact materials, whilst delivering flexibility and adaptability for future needs. · Client: Hammersmith & Fulham Council Sands End Arts & Community Centre · Architects: Mæ Architects · Technology: Cross Laminated Timber - CLT and Glue laminated timber - Glulam · Surface: 450 m2 · Timber Volume: 203 m3  · Timber structure designed, engineered, manufactured and installed by Egoin · Year: 2018 #WeAreWood #EgoinUK

The Barretts Grove Residential project is a six-storey apartment building located in inner London which showcases contemporary English architecture. Featuring a superstructure and main staircase made entirely from Egoin's Mass Timber elements, the project blends sustainability with structural integrity. Constructed with efficiency and environmental consciousness in mind, the building includes exposed cross laminated timber (CLT) walls and ceilings, 120mm CLT panels, and 225mm floor slabs spanning 6.5 metres. The external facade, a self-supporting ventilated brick design, combines natural aesthetics with functional efficiency. Aligned with contemporary trends, the project reduces environmental impact, notably decreasing vehicle movements. Egoin's mass timber, significantly lighter than concrete, led to a 20-vehicle reduction in site movements, lowering the carbon footprint, reducing local social impact, and easing site congestion. This highlights the project's commitment to sustainability and the benefits of using mass timber solutions in urban architecture. · Client: Nordic Lofts · Architects: GROUPWORK · Sponsor: Bridge New Homes and Land · Technology: Cross Laminated Timber - CLT and Glue laminated timber - Glulam · Surface: 510 m2 · Timber Volume: 205 m3  · Timber structure designed, engineered, manufactured and installed by Egoin · Year: 2016 #WeAreWood #EgoinUK

The Egoin team successfully delivered a project in the Reed’s School Cricket Pavilion, located in Cobham, Surrey. These sports facilities combine functionality with aesthetic appeal. We executed the construction of the glulam and steel roof structure in 2 weeks, demonstrating the speed at which large precision engineered components can be put together on site reducing the overall build programme. Our previous collaborations with IID, on similar project types enabled an efficient design partnership and the delivery of a high quality low carbon building in line with the programme.    · Client: Reed's School · Technology: Glue laminated timber - Glulam · Surface: 1200 m2 · Volume: 95 m3  · Timber structure designed, engineered, manufactured and installed by Egoin · Year: 2017 #WeAreWood #EgoinUK

Located within the historic Chatham Dockyard in Kent, the Command of the Oceans Museum stands as a tribute to maritime history. Built on the site of a former sail-making workshop, the museum is renowned for its association with HMS Victory, Admiral Nelson’s flagship for the historic Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The architectural highlight of the museum lies in its innovative use of Egoin's timber, featuring 20 glulam porticoes with a cross laminated timber (CLT) roof deck, providing a striking contrast to the adjacent warehouses' traditional timber structures. The choice of CLT for the Command of the Oceans Museum reflects practical considerations and a nod to the area's naval heritage. Exposed timber throughout the museum serves as a testament to the enduring strength and timeless beauty of wood as a building material. Crafted from Radiata Pine, the CLT used in the museum emphasises sustainability without compromising quality or durability. The project adheres to contemporary standards of eco-conscious building practices and is in line with Egoin's sustainability targets for wood production. Recognized for its exceptional design and execution, the museum received a nomination for the prestigious 2017 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stirling Prize. This acknowledgment underscores its significance as a cultural landmark and architectural achievement. The Command of the Oceans Museum exemplifies the seamless integration of history, innovation, and sustainability. Through the use of Egoin's cross laminated timber (CLT), this architectural masterpiece pays homage to Chatham's maritime legacy while embracing a more environmentally conscious approach to construction. · Architect: Baynes & Mitchell Architects · Client: The Historic Dockyard Chatham  · CLT Timber structure designed, engineered, manufactured and installed by Egoin · Year: 2016 #WeAreWood #EgoinUK

This stunning residential property was completed in Edinburgh in late 2017. Zone Architects worked with owner/developer Julia Bouvy and her family to help realise her ambitious vision for this spectacular site towards the top of Blackford Hill. Previously occupied by a tired and dated bungalow the new house aims to make the most of the site’s unique views over Edinburgh, whilst making a sympathetic and attractive contribution towards the architecture of the area.   The property was constructed using Cross Laminated Timber, which ensures that the house has a low embodied carbon footprint whilst allowing the superstructure of the house to be constructed rapidly. This CLT is wrapped with a thick layer of Pavatex wood fibre insulation and clad in timber, sandstone and zinc, materials selected to provide low maintenance and reflect the character of the surroundings. The zero-carbon (in use) house was designed to passive house standards and has an energy efficiency rating of 94, in Band A. It has CO2 emissions of 6 kg CO2/m²/year. · Contractor: John Dennis  · Architect: Zone Architects · Structural Engineers: Elliott & Co. · CLT Timber structure designed, engineered and manufactured by Egoin · Year: 2017 #WeAreWood #EgoinUK

Woodside Mews is a compact row of 4 houses we built with Egoin Mass Timber Solutions in 2018. The residential dwellings are located in Croydon, South London. The project was designed by Graham Molden Architects and Michael Hadi Associates and defines a very modern simplistic approach to smaller residential dwellings whilst also giving a feeling of space through the use of natural lighting. · Architects: Graham Molden Architects and MHA Structural Design · Designed, engineered and manufactured by Egoin · Installed by Egoin #WeAreWood #EgoinUK

In July 2013, Egoin completed its first Mass Timber project in Scotland: Helix Park. A coffee pavilion in a park where the famous ‘Kelpies Heads’, sculptures almost 30 metres high representing mythical wild horses, can be found. It is an area of former industrial transportation canals with locks where now a stunning park has been created for the enjoyment of Edinburgh's citizens and visitors.  In 2021 the park was presented with the Green Flag Award which is an accolade acknowledging the creation of quality green open spaces across the country that help to boost the nation's health and wellbeing   The pavilion also won an award from the Edinburgh Architectural Association and is visited by thousands of families every year. · Architects: IRONSIDE FARRAR LIMITED · Designed, engineered and manufactured by Egoin · Installed by Egoin #WeAreWood #EgoinUK

Another successful project collaboration by Egoin in the design, manufacture, supply and installation of Chancellor Court, an exclusive residential development in Finchley, North London. The building contains eight 3-bedroom apartments, a lift and underground parking area. The timber structure of the building including staircases has been completely developed by our team. The feedback that we receive directly or indirectly from occupants living in Mass Timber buildings is that the experience is said to be more “solid and quiet”. This is largely due to the tightness of the connections between the panels and the overall airtightness that is delivered by default within Mass Timber and CLT buildings. · Architects: Scenario Architecture Ltd · Designed, engineered and manufactured by Egoin · Installed by Egoin #WeAreWood #EgoinUK

We were pleased to work once again with Neilcott Construction in the delivery of the community focused project of Mint Street Adventure Playground. This Playground is a facility which provides the children of Southwark a safe environment to learn and play. The structure was made with Cross Laminated Timber which meant that construction was fast with minimal local disruption and of course delivered a low carbon building. The contractor liaised closely with local parent volunteers to discuss their ideas and the suggestions made by the children, to decorate the hoarding to retain the community feel and maintain its presence. · Architect: Hazle McCormack Young LLP · Client: London Borough of Southwark · Contractor: Neilcott Construction Limited · Designed, engineered and manufactured by Egoin · Installed by Egoin #WeAreWood #EgoinUK
