Karen’s Ecumen Hospice aide Jodie had the sweet idea of getting a special recording of her singing a song for her new baby granddaughter. Music therapist Naomi has gotten to hear Karen sing so many special songs during their time together - some old standards, some originals by Karen herself, and some (like this one) from a musical for which Karen once graced the stage. Now little Baby P can hear it too and have a keepsake from her grandma who adores her. Naomi used a lapel mic to get this recording; one of the many pieces of equipment that music therapists utilize in their work! We had the absolute blessing of celebrating Pat's 100th birthday this month! Pat calls Abiitan Mill City, an Ecumen-owned community in Minneapolis, her home. When asked about her secret to reaching 100, she said, "Eating healthy, swimming every day, and living here!" Join us in wishing Pat a very Happy 100th Birthday! Meet Gabby! Gabby used to work at Ecumen Pathstone in Mankato, MN as an Administrative Assistant. She decided she wanted to move up to the Twin Cities but wanted to stay working with Ecumen. Lucky for us she found a role at our Abiitan Mill City community in the heart of Minneapolis! "I transferred to Abiitan because I wanted to be closer to my family and experience the big city all while still being able to grow and learn with Ecumen! Transferring was so amazing and such an easy process especially with the help of my leaders and my supportive teammates! I have learned so much from both Pathstone and Abiitan and I hope to keep learning and growing with the team and community," said Gabby. We love that our team members choose to stay with us when making significant life decisions. Moving can be quite stressful but knowing you can transfer between communities within Ecumen removes the added worry of finding a new organization to work for!
