Honored to speak at the USDA Equity Commission’s regional convening for the Pacific Northwest! Held in Pendleton, the event highlighted the power of rural partnerships, alongside conversations on natural resource management, climate adaptation, forest restoration, workforce development, and housing. Toni Stanger-McLaughlin and I discussed the strategies our organizations, Native American Agriculture Fund and Ecotrust, are using to promote equitable regional food economy development across the Pacific Northwest. Many thanks to Nils Christoffersen for the invitation, my dear friend, Tory Campbell, for connecting us, and LaNicia Duke for being there and amplifying the perspectives of rural Black Oregonians!

Green Workforce Academy recently celebrated the completion of its 12th cohort! We’re so grateful to this cohort for their strong engagement, thoughtfulness, and the joy we had spending 5 weeks alongside them in this green jobs program. This cohort also enjoyed new partner sites, like Parrott Creek, Prismid Sanctuary, and Mudbone Grown’s new farm location. Over the next few weeks, Teresa Gaddy, the program’s manager, and Keri Wilborn, program coordinator, will be working on all the logistics for the next session, which begins on August 12th. Recruitment is going on now, so if you're interested in signing up, visit our webpage! (link in bio) 📸: Rich Morales, a graduate of the 12th Green Workforce Academy cohort
