Yesterday, ECMC Group volunteers in Minneapolis spent time at the Kids In Need Foundation. They had an amazing time sorting donations and organizing books. They counted and prepared them to be distributed to teachers and classrooms in underserved schools. Making a difference, one book at a time! #KidsInNeed #EducationForAll #CommunitySupport

Yesterday, our Wellbeing Champion Network and Corporate Affairs and IT teams helped ECMC Group celebrate National Wellness Month with a delightful rooftop lunch in our Minneapolis office. Colleagues enjoyed a healthy lunch featuring delectable sandwiches, wraps, salads, and sides from Whole Foods. It was the perfect opportunity to connect and embrace wellness together. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the event a success! #NationalWellnessMonth

MN Cup has announced the 27 companies advancing to their Finalist Round! The top three finishers from each of the nine divisions will present in person to the divisional judges at the end of August. This year, MN Cup is celebrating 20 years of impact in Minnesota’s startup ecosystem. The MN Cup program has supported 26,000 entrepreneurs, awarding $5.4 million in startup funding. ECMC Foundation President Jacob Fraire spoke at SHEEO (State Higher Education Executive Officers Association)'s 2024 Higher Education Policy conference in Washington, DC, last week with his keynote, “Distraction’s Discontents.” He urged his colleagues to partner with his organization to meet the Foundation’s North Star goal: to close equity gaps in college completion by 2040 so that underserved learners have greater opportunity for social and economic opportunity. He also counseled them to look beyond the partisan debates about higher education and to focus attention on students “farthest from opportunity.” In his speech, Fraire said: “Our students are resilient and possess tremendous potential. Yet their chances of earning a postsecondary credential depend less on their individual talents, tenacity, and intellect and more on the circumstances of where they live, the job they hold, the number of children they support, the race or ethnicity they represent, or the support structures provided by the colleges that admit them. Is this the higher education structure we wish to sustain?” Thank you, SHEEO for creating space to discuss why we must collaborate to eliminate equity gaps so that underserved learners have greater opportunity for social and economic mobility.
