Meet Micah Smart! Micah’s practice is focused primarily on bankruptcy and creditor rights, supported by a unique blend of litigation, construction, and business experience. He represents a wide range of lending institutions, local businesses, contractors, homeowners, and other individuals in both state and federal courts, with a particular emphasis on creditors in Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 bankruptcies, commercial collection and workout, construction disputes, and foreclosure. As a Shareholder in the bustling Portland office, Micah has gained experience with many diverse areas of law. He is as comfortable in the court room as he is in the office, and has argued cases in multiple different state and federal courts. Meet Martin Grohman! Marty is a Business Consultant based out of Portland, Maine. As a Business Consultant, Marty brings years of expertise leading, operating, and assisting growth companies. As a member of Eaton Peabody Consulting, Marty works with businesses in the energy, environmental, and bluetech space to develop roadmaps, assist with financial modeling and project management, assist with market research, develop and manage ESG programs, and act as a coach and mentor as the businesses scale. Prior to joining Eaton Peabody, Marty was recently the executive director of Environmental & Energy Technology Council of Maine (E2Tech), an organization of 280 companies committed to advancing Maine’s cleantech economy.

Meet Caitlin Carroll! Caitlin Carroll is an Associate in Eaton Peabody’s Business Practice Group. She is based in the Firm’s Bangor office, but frequently travels to the firm’s other offices in Augusta, Ellsworth, and Portland. Caitlin’s areas of focus include business formation and structuring, mergers and acquisitions, angel/venture capital financings, securities offerings, and general corporate work. Prior to joining Eaton Peabody, Caitlin earned her Juris Doctor from Vermont Law and Graduate School in May 2023. In addition to her Juris Doctor, she also earned a Diplôme Universitaire in French and European Union Law, and an LL.M. in Business Law, Taxation and Compliance, from CY Cergy Paris Université in May 2023. While at Vermont Law, Caitlin served as a Judicial Extern for The Honorable Harold E. Meet Alexandra Stanley! Allie is an Estate Planning & Wealth Transfer associate based out of the Bangor office. Allie focuses on sophisticated planning of trusts and estates, trust and probate administrations, charitable planning, family business, and tax and succession planning. Prior to joining Eaton Peabody, Allie practiced at an international law firm in Boston. Allie represented private credit lenders in complex financing transactions in connection with acquisition financings, refinancings, and restructurings across a wide range of industries. Allie earned her Juris Doctor from the Boston University School of Law in May 2022. While in law school, Allie served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Kermit V. Lipez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, as well as a law clerk for the Boston University Office of the General Counsel. At BU Law, Allie was the executive editor of the Public Interest Law Journal and was a research assistant.
