Alleviating hunger in eastern Illinois.
About us
OUR MISSION Eastern Illinois Foodbank exists to alleviate hunger in eastern Illinois. WHAT WE DO Eastern Illinois Foodbank is a member of the Feeding America network, and is the primary food source for food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and other programs working to feed neighbors facing food insecurity. The Foodbank acquires millions of pounds of food and grocery product through purchase or donation and distributes it across our network of more than 160 feeding programs. Together, we’re working to create a hunger-free eastern Illinois. By partnering with EIF, emergency food programs are able to save millions of dollars each year in food purchase and handling costs. These savings allow them to focus their efforts and funds on more effectively working to alleviate hunger in our area. The Foodbank also operates programs targeted to children, seniors, and veterans. We fight hunger in communities throughout these 18 counties in eastern Illinois: Champaign Clark Clay Coles Crawford Cumberland DeWitt Douglas Edgar Ford Iroquois Jasper Livingston McLean Moultrie Piatt Vermilion Woodford

No, Fighting Illini Football offensive lineman Zy Crisler isn't four months late for our honky tonk Prom Benefit—he arrived to volunteer in sandals but remembered our closed-toe shoe policy! Thanks to Zy and all of our volunteers for helping us prioritize safety at EIF. ❌ sandals ✅ cowboy boots (...or whatever closed-toe shoes you have in your car!) Show off your shoes while you're helping us feed our neighbors by signing up to volunteer today! https://lnkd.in/g9zniDGV

Since 2022, the average number of neighbors served each month at our network of agency partners alone has increased by 90%. As many see their budgets strained, and grocery costs continue to rise, your support helps local families keep meals on the table. https://lnkd.in/gkbcU28B Thank you to our incredible agency partners for their dedication in feeding our communities! ❤️

This National Best Friend Day, we want to celebrate best friends who help their community together! In the last year, Matt and Darrin have donated 25 hours of their time repacking food at EIF together. In fact, Matt and Darrin do most things together, including attending park clean-ups or hanging out at Developmental Services Center parties. Matt loves the Bears and the Cubs, and Darrin can name every song on the radio. We ❤️ best friends who volunteer together! Have you brought a bestie to volunteer at EIF? Add a photo or story in the comments!
