On the back of the AR6 announcements today, significant government support has been shown for projects in the region and EastWind would like to congratulate East Anglia THREE, East Anglia TWO and Hornsea 3. 🚨 RWE's Scroby Sands to provide £10,000 sponsorship to Caister Lifeboat to cover fundraising costs. The sponsorship will be put towards the expenses for each of Caister Lifeboat's four events, held through the year. The events are a major part of their fundraising, which goes into the day-to-day running of the lifeboats and station. The Caister Volunteer Lifeboat Service is an independent lifeboat station run entirely by volunteers and the only independent lifeboat station in the UK that operates both an all-weather lifeboat and an inshore lifeboat. 🗣 Philip Croston-Clegg, Scroby Sands Offshore Wind Farm General Manager said "RWE is committed to giving back to the community and supporting initiatives that make a real difference in people's lives. Our operational staff are regular sea users, sailing in vessels off the Great Yarmouth coast in all weathers, in order to maintain our fleet of turbines. Welcome boosts for UK Energy Sector   Skills England and Great British Energy, two groundbreaking initiatives of the new government that promise to transform the energy landscape and workforce development across the UK, align perfectly with EEEGR’s mission and ambitions.    EEEGR is revitalising its Skills for Energy Steering Group, where contractors, developers, local authorities and educational organisations can discuss holistically the approach to skills across the sector and across the region.   In talks with our members, they state that skills shortages and finding the right people is top of their challenges. We will be stepping up our work to address and identify solutions alongside our members, partners and stakeholders.   🔹 **Skills England** is set to revolutionize skills training by working closely with businesses, unions, and educational institutions. This new body will coordinate national training efforts, addressing the persistent skills gaps in sectors like renewable energy. The introduction of the Growth and Skills Levy offers flexibility for companies to invest in tailored training programs, ensuring a skilled workforce ready for future challenges.   🔹 **Great British Energy** was launched on July 25, 2024. This publicly-owned company, funded with £8.3 billion sourced from a windfall tax on oil and gas profits, aims to drive investment in clean, home-grown energy production. Collaborating with private companies, local authorities, and cooperatives, it focuses on renewable projects like wind, solar, and hydropower.
