  • 🌱 Part V of EARA’s "Regenerating Forward" Series 🌱 We’re excited to bring you the final part of our series, "Strategic Dialogue & the Upcoming EU Commission Agri Food Vision," which dives deep into the future of EU agrifood ecosystem governance. In this part, we focus on the promising dialogue currently shaping the agri-food policy landscape. The Strategic Dialogue is receiving praise across Europe, and some see it as a revolutionary step forward. We congratulate everyone involved in the SD. The following are empathetic reflections on the learnings from both the backlash we all experienced on the Green Deal & F2F as well as the seemingly successful Strategic Dialogue of Angela Merkel in Germany in 2021, which can be considered a failure today. We’ll delve into this through two vital perspectives: 🍎 Past Mistakes and Deadlocks 🍏 New Opportunities Sprouting from the Regenerative Agriculture Movement 🍎 Past Mistakes and Deadlocks While the positive reactions are encouraging, we must reflect on past challenges. Previous initiatives, like the German Strategic Dialogue, the EU Green Deal and Farm to Fork Strategy, struggled to deliver meaningful change in the agricultural sector. They lacked farmer-centered action plans and failed to build a new social contract for agrifood ecosystems. The risk of repeating these mistakes—making empty promises, sticking to outdated economic paradigms, and overlooking large-scale policy development—remains real. 🍏 New Opportunities Sprouting from the Regenerative Agriculture Movement The upcoming Agri Food Vision presents a chance for bold, farmer-centered innovation. It can create transition tools that prioritize regenerative agriculture. As regenerative pioneer John Kempf noted, a pragmatic, data-driven approach is key to success, and farmers must be empowered with resources like remote sensing data to track their progress and fairly reward ecosystem services. 🔜 Thank you for following along with EARA’s "Regenerating Forward" series! Stay tuned for more updates, our upcoming posts will explore the regenerative paradigm from diverse, interconnected perspectives. • 👣 🇪🇺 Last week was our Advocacy Steward Meghan Sapp's first on-the-ground week in Brussels where she met with a wide range of stakeholders to better understand the current policy landscape and where our CAP reform proposal fits in. Discussions for the 2027 CAP reform are just starting to kick off, and our farmer- and ecosystem-health focused reform proposal fits right into what was agreed upon by a wide group of stakeholders in the recent Strategic Dialogue on the Future of European Agriculture. From meetings with the European Commission's DG Agri to COPA COGECA, from PepsiCo to AVEC (European Poultry Producers Association), from Soil Capital to European Environmental Bureau and many others as well as media including Financial Times, REVOLVE and Raphael Esterhazy, it was an intense but very fruitful first week that laid the foundations for our work at European level. 🇪🇺 With her new European Parliament badge fresh off the presses, we're officially amongst the European stakeholders now working towards a stronger, healthier--and more regenerative--Europe. She'll next be in Brussels for EU Soils Week and looks forward to continuing the discussions then.

  • We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Agricultural and Rural Convention - ARC2020 for hosting the presentation of EARA's CAP proposal, Towards a Farmer-Centric CAP Rooted in Agroecosystem Health. This policy paper, thoughtfully crafted by regenerative farmers from across Europe, outlines a vision for reshaping the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) post-2027, focusing on a farmer-centric and performance-based approach that prioritizes the health of our agroecosystems. 🌱 We encourage everyone to share their thoughts and insights on this important topic! Let’s explore how we can collectively advocate for a sustainable future in agroecosystems.

  • 🌱 Registration is Open for EARA's Roundtable Series on Regenerative Agriculture! We’re thrilled to invite you to the 3rd session of our Roundtable Series, dedicated to exploring Regenerative Agriculture. 🌾 This movement is more than a change in farming practices; it’s a revolution rooted in microbiology and soil science breakthroughs and the innovative spirit of pioneering farmers who tirelessly push the boundaries of the possible every day. It’s about regenerating not just our soils, but our hearts and minds too. 📅 Join us on October 9th, 7-8:30 pm CET, for the third session titled "EARA’s 4 principles for stewarding Regenerative Agriculture". Here, EARA's farmers will explain their theoretical work for pro-nature and pro-social food and farming. 🔴 We’re excited to announce the special guests of this Episode: EARA'S FOUNDING FARMERS! • 🌱 Part IV of EARA’s "Regenerating Forward" Series 🌱 We are excited to continue our exploration with "Regenerating Forward: Green Deal & Farm2Fork Strategy – From a Restoring and Sustaining to a Regenerating Paradigm and Action Plan for Europe." In this fourth part, we tackle the "Use of Expired Scientific & Public Governance Paradigms", diving deeper into another key reason behind the policy under-performance of the Green Deal and Farm2Fork strategy. We’ll delve into this through two vital perspectives: 🍎 Past Mistakes and Deadlocks 🍏 New Opportunities Sprouting from the Regenerative Agriculture Movement 🍎 Past Mistakes and Deadlocks The sciences of water and soil, foundational to agriculture, have undergone revolutionary advancements in the last decade. However, the Green Deal and Farm2Fork strategies were built on outdated scientific understandings, failing to integrate these groundbreaking insights. Moreover, the policy frameworks were designed within a narrow "arrest disorder" paradigm rooted in neoliberal economics and rational choice theory, which ultimately fell short of addressing the complexities of regeneration. Similarly, public governance under these policies relied heavily on reporting and central planning, often serving bureaucratic processes rather than fostering environments conducive to both human and ecological well-being.. 🍏New Opportunities Sprouting from Regenerative Agriculture he future lies in embracing Regenerative Agriculture, which aligns with emerging scientific paradigms and provides a holistic, inclusive model for public policy. A new study commissioned by the Belgian Federal Public Service for Health, Food Chain Safety, and Environment highlights a shift towards regenerative public governance. With the right technological innovations and fresh perspectives from policymakers, public policy can transition from bureaucratic rigidity to creating vibrant, emergent environments that benefit both citizens and nature. 🔜 Next in Part V: We’ll delve into the Strategic Dialogue and upcoming EU Commission Agri Food Vision.
