Here’s a quick recap of 2023 investment trends and how they are surging forward in 2024 and beyond. Today, Albert Cheung, Deputy CEO & Head of Global Transition Analysis at BloombergNEF, took to the stage in front of a standing-room-only crowd to present the latest energy trends briefed in BNEF’s annual report, New Energy Outlook. This session covered emerging trends, including record growth in solar and wind capacity, and offered a glimpse into the future of global energy markets. A few notable trends: ⚡️ 2023 saw renewables surpass fossil fuels in Europe for the first time, a historic moment for the transition. ⚡️ Tripling global renewables would put us close to a net-zero pathway. ⚡️ Energy investment needs to ramp up, particularly for storage and grid. ⚡️ For the Net Zero Scenario, multiple technology pathways must succeed. #DynamoSummit2024 #ClimateAction #ClimateWeekNYC #ClimateWeek #EnergyTransition

This week, we had the privilege to hear from local legends Bill Ritter, Operating Partner at Blackhorn Ventures and 41st Governor of Colorado, and Will Toor, Executive Director at the Colorado Energy Office, where they discussed key policy trends shaping the energy sector in Colorado. They covered topics like 'Why Colorado?' and discussed what makes the state such a critical player in the energy transition by illustrating how Colorado is leading the way in helping to lower emissions, enforcing progressive building codes, and fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem. Will Toor shared a particularly inspiring update:"As of last week, we are on track for about an 88% reduction by 2030, and our largest utility Xcel Energy will be about 80% renewable by the end of the decade." Thank you to our incredible event partners, BloombergNEF and Blackhorn Ventures, and especially Bill Ritter and Will Toor for sharing their outlooks and insights on the Colorado energy transition! We're looking forward to continuing these conversations next week in New York at our Energy Transition Summit during #ClimateWeekNYC!
