July is Smart Irrigation Month! Consider letting your grass grow this summer. Longer grass can help your lawn be more resilient to drought. The longer the blade, the more surface area there is for photosynthesis which provides the energy needed for grass to grow stronger roots. #ilwaterambassador

The weather’s looking good for outdoor DIY projects. If you’re planting, building, adding, or fixing anything outside…use caution when digging because underground utility lines may be buried on your property. Striking one can cause serious damage or knock out a critical service. Protect yourself and your family by contacting JULIE before you dig to have utility companies come out to locate and mark underground utility lines on your property for FREE. Submit a locate request online anytime. #DigSafeIllinois #ProtectYourselfAndYourFamily #JULIEBeforeYouDig #Call811 https://lnkd.in/g2wpRbE4

Please join us in congratulating Ken Niles, on his retirement from the Commission. Ken’s first day was on August 5th, 1991, almost 33 years ago, and has played a vital role in the sustained success of the Commission ever since. Once a Pipeline Technician working in our meter shop and metering stations, Ken moved on to Locating and in 2017 became DWC’s Utility Coordinator. Ken will be hitting the ground running once he retires, moving to Tuscaloosa to be near his son as he starts his first semester at the University of Alabama and to enjoy boating and spending his time out on the water. DWC wishes you a happy and healthy retirement, Ken!
