This week marks two exciting occasions – National Zookeeper Week and National Intern Day. What better way to honor both than to share our North Texas Intern's adventure at the Fort Worth Zoo? Dunaway has proudly provided civil engineering, structural engineering, planning landscape architecture, and surveying services to the Fort Worth Zoo since 1999! Each Summer, we enjoy letting our North Texas interns into the wild to experience the zoo for themselves! 🐘 #HappyNationalInternDay

In our latest insight, "Designing for the Future: How Structural Engineering Supports Architectural Design," we sit down with Engagement Manager and Principal, Sarah Willis, P.E., to learn more about a brand-new middle school in the City of Hutto and how Dunaway’s structural engineering team was able to blend functionality with aesthetics – resulting in a feeling of 𝘣𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢 for all who enter. Coined by the Harvard naturalist Dr. Edward O. Wilson, the term '𝘣𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢' describes humanity’s “innate instinct to connect with nature and other living beings.” Thanks in part to out-of-the-box thinking, the natural elements featured in Hutto ISD's newest middle school do more than provide structural support – they helped bring VLK Architects vision to life. This week, Dunaway’s own Matt Patyk, CPSWQ and Edgardo Sandoval attended the Esri Conference, where they gave a presentation on 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘞𝘢𝘺𝘴: 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘜𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘺123 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘈𝘶𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 in the Geospatial Solutions for Environmental Project Insights session! The Esri conference is the world’s largest GIS conference, where industry leaders and peers from around the globe explore the Map Gallery, chat with Esri technical experts, make connections, and apply new insights to their projects.

Last week, Dunaway had the privilege of spending the day with Building Pathways, Inc. and Post L Group's Summer Youth Program! Members of the program joined Dunaway team members Simon Harris IV, Ky Stephens, Jorge Rodriguez Santana, and Kervin M. Campbell, PE, who shared career experiences and unique insights as they toured the recently completed Bowie House, Auberge Resorts Collection project in the City of Fort Worth. At Dunaway, we are passionate about supporting our communities and participating in events such as this is what it's all about! Thanks for allowing us to host!

Dunaway is pleased to announce Davey Edwards, PhD PLS LSLS CFedS as the newest addition to our North Texas team. Davey joins Dunaway as a Technical Director in Dunaway’s #survey department, bringing over two decades of expertise in the public analysis of land and geospatial information. Dunaway partnered with Block Companies, LLC and Bennett Partners Architecture | Interiors | Planning to provide structural engineering services on Hughes House. Located in the City of Fort Worth Stop Six Choice Neighborhood community, Hughes House is a planned 237-unit mixed-income community consisting of two phases and features senior housing, market-rate units, and affordable options.   The Hughes House projects are part of Fort Worth’s Stop Six Choice Neighborhood Initiative, which previously received a $35 million seed grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Dunaway also provided structural engineering on another of the initiative’s housing projects, Cowan Place, which opened for senior residents in November of 2023. We look forward to seeing the progress made on this exciting project!

Dunaway is partnering with the Lawrence Group to provide #structural engineering services at Austin Regional Clinic: ARC. The clinic has embarked on a transformative project to replace a prefabricated metal building located on Ben White Boulevard with a two-story, state-of-the-art medical office building. The 63,000-square-foot composite steel framed Medical Office Building (MOB) will also mark ARC’s debut of an Ambulatory Surgery Center, occupying half of the clinic’s first level. The superstructure is designed to support the various equipment needs of the Ambulatory Surgical Center and its operating rooms, radiology suite, cardio lab, and various exam rooms throughout the two floors. A new drive-through canopy will be relocated to the north end of the building and serve ambulances and patient drop-off. We look forward to seeing the progress made as construction continues!

Recently, Dunaway’s own Matt Patyk, CPSWQ, CFM had a blast providing students with hands-on experience with ArcGIS software as part of Texas Christian University's Supply Chain B-Tech Camp! Held annually by the TCU Neeley Center for Supply Chain Innovation, the Supply Chain B-Tech Camp is a summer residential program for high school students, providing a hands-on experience with opportunities to explore the world of business technology and learn how it drives innovation in the global supply chain.
