Duluth Area Chamber President Matthew Baumgartner, MBA and Chamber Board member, Finance Committee member, and Interim VCFO and UMD Controller, Sue Bosell enjoyed spending the afternoon with other community and business leaders at Malosky Stadium at UMD. It was an opportunity to thank Interim Chancellor, Dave McMillan, for his service, as well as formally welcome Chancellor-Designate, Charles Nies. We were honored to present Chamber lapel pins to both leaders, as well as cards marking the moment. The Duluth Area Chamber looks forward to many more years working in close partnership with the University of Minnesota Duluth!

The 55th Annual Chamber Golf Classic presented by Spectrum teed off at Ridgeview Country Club on Monday, July 22nd. Hundreds of golfers, 75 sponsor organizations and many volunteers and guests enjoyed golf, networking, and fun. Thank you to our marquee sponsor, Spectrum and the many committed sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and Ridgeview Country Club team for all their contributions to the event. We are so grateful to many of our members and community partners who help make this event possible and such a huge success year after year, including Super One Foods (lunch), Bernick's (beverages), Johnson’s Bakery (breakfast and coffee), Mellin Promotional Advertising (shirts), WM (extra garbage cans and recycling bins), 95 KQDS will be broadcasting live, and many more help make event one of the biggest and best golf events in the region. We are so grateful for all our sponsors, participants, volunteers, guests, staff, the Ridgeview team for their hospitality, and everyone involved! Can’t wait to see you all tomorrow. Weather update: We’re, of course, keeping on eye on the skies. While the Duluth Area Chamber Golf Classic is a rain or shine event, we’ll work with Ridgeview to ensure safety is the top priority. The morning is looking fine, but unfortunately the forecast for the early afternoon forecast is showing a good chance of rain and possibly even a chance of a storm. Should there be lightning within 10 miles of Ridgeview Country Club, the club will blow a loud horn which signals to get off the course. We would then wait to see if storm will pass and adjust accordingly. Fortunately there will be food and beverages available throughout the day, so we’ll be ready to enjoy your company on or off the course.
