About us
Downtown Vision has a mission to create and support a vibrant Downtown Jacksonville and promote DTJax as an exciting place to live, work, visit and invest. We are place managers, connectors, strategists and activators dedicated to enhancing the heart of our city. We are driven by the belief that Downtown is for everyone: from 5,800 residents at home in Downtown to 55,000 employees taking care of business to 11 million annual visitors discovering Downtown’s attractions, natural amenities, restaurants and retail. Thanks to its dense, mixed-use development, Downtown is the greatest generator of tax dollars by square mile in the county. And as the economic engine for Duval, a vibrant Downtown is key to attracting businesses and talent. We collaborate with large property owners, small businesses, city government and nonprofits to make to make the Downtown experience great because we know the better Downtown does, the better Northeast Florida does. Our Vision is a dynamic, 24-hour, pedestrian-friendly Downtown Jacksonville that serves as the premier center for the arts, dining, retail, entertainment, business and urban living in Northeast Florida. Formed in 2000, we are the 90-block Business Improvement District (BID) for Downtown Jacksonville. A not-for-profit organization, we are funded mainly by Downtown’s commercial property owners through a self-assessment and are governed by a large board of directors representing diverse Downtown stakeholders. Our work represents a strong public-private partnership with the City of Jacksonville and its Downtown Investment Authority.
