🚀 DT Global's PROSIVU Program was honoured to support the launch of the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Timor- Leste 2024, a national conference for young people that focuses on climate change, recently held in Dili, Timor-Leste. 🌞 The three-day event was attended by more than 80 young people including youth delegates, volunteers, and members of youth groups, who networked and learned more from climate change experts and youth leaders on key issues concerning climate change. 🎤 Joining the opening ceremony was the Ambassador of Climate Change to Timor-Leste, Mr. Adão Barbosa, along with other guest speakers from the Timor-Leste and Australian Governments, The Asia Foundation and the Forestry and Coffee Industry. 📝 The event collated young people’s ideas and experiences into a National Youth Statement, which will contribute to the Global Youth Climate Statement that is submitted to the Conference of Parties (COP) climate negotiations. ☂️ LCOY's happen worldwide under the umbrella of YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In #Mozambique🇲🇿, we’re currently providing technical assistance through our Consulting Services in Urban Infrastructure Management (CSUIM), under the Urban Development and Decentralization Project (PDUL). Funded by the The World Bank this project aims to strengthen institutional performance and deliver improved infrastructure and services in participating local entities. Of the four components under this project, our consultancy supports the Urban Infrastructure and Municipal Services component. This segment of the project provides financing to improve urban infrastructure and municipal services and strengthens urban management capacity in 22 municipalities located in the provinces of Gaza, Niassa, Sofala, and Zambézia. 🏙️🚧 Our work focuses on the following activities: 📋 Conducting diagnostics of municipal capacities to handle urban infrastructure planning and management responsibilities. 👩🏫 Providing on-the-job technical assistance. 📚 Creating and implementing 9 training modules in various areas. 🌐 Offering remote support services, including distance training for municipalities. At a recent Budget Helpdesk in Parliament, we witnessed the success of a key objective under our Strengthening Domestic Revenue Mobilization and Domestic Accountability project: supporting Parliament's financial oversight committees. During this event, 105 parliamentarians engaged actively, addressing over 390 questions concerning the control and operation of public accounts. We’ve proudly supported this initiative in years past, providing essential resources to empower members of the Financial Oversight Committees. This effort aims to increase the participation and knowledge of Members of Parliament and other committee officials in the budget process. Other key objectives under this project: 🪙 Improve tax collection and tax risk management capabilities. 📊 Modernize programs to conduct external audits in accordance with international standards, enhance auditor training, and improve the quality of audit reports. The implementation of these efforts, which continue until June 2025, will strengthen democratic governance and promote more effective and efficient use of public funds in Bangladesh.
