Let’s look at a simplified example of what inventory optimization means. Retailers have the rules they use for inventory allocation, like 5 of a certain shirt at every store and 20 of those shirts in the warehouse. If a store sells a shirt, it’ll be restocked. Dropit provides insights for smarter allocation, restocking, and returns decisions. If a store had its 5 shirts sitting unsold for 40 days and then they sell 1, it shouldn’t be restocked automatically. We need to dive deeper into the data. Maybe this particular shirt is not selling well on the West Coast and is often returned. Maybe it is selling well on the East Coast. Dropit takes in this information and much more and actively rebalances inventory. If that 1 shirt is returned, it shouldn’t continue to sit at that location. It should be sent to the East Coast.
