First up, let's talk about Panettone—the nostalgic, beloved Italian Christmas bread is making a grand comeback. Forget the dry, forgettable versions of the past; these Panettones are premium, flavorful, and delightful. With more than ten vendors sampling their unique takes and a Panettone snagging the Bakery Item of the Year award, these revamped classics are set to be the stars of the holiday season. With holiday nostalgia brewing, other holiday baked classics may be headed back to stardom (I'm looking at you fruitcake). Next, we saw a splash of color and creativity in packaging innovation. Brands are upping their game with vibrant, eye-catching designs that breathe new life into classic products, create a buzz in aisles and online, and make shopping a more exciting experience for consumers. But it wasn't all about the glitz and glamour. Inflation has thrown a noticeable curveball into the industry, slowing the debut of new-to-market products as manufacturers focus on cost-cutting measures and line extensions (a trend we’ve noticed woven through this year’s tradeshows across the industry). This means fewer "hot new items," but it's all part of a strategic shift to balance innovation with economic realities.
