Today we commemorate International Equal Pay Day, an important date that brings global attention to efforts made and efforts underway to achieve pay equity. As we celebrate the decades of progress that has been made in reducing gender pay imbalance, we also recognize that there is still work to do as women around the world continue to face a significant wage gap. According to UN Women, on average, women earn just 80 cents for every dollar earned by men. And that gap is even wider for women of color. It’s important to highlight that this disparity isn’t just a number; it’s a reflection of the systemic barriers that continue to exist. At Dress for Success®, we strive to provide unemployed and underemployed women of all walks of life with the tools and resources they need to find meaningful jobs that provide fair compensation—regardless of their gender identity. Together, let’s reaffirm our commitment to closing the gender pay gap and show the world that fair wages are not just the right thing to do but that fair compensation—regardless of gender—impacts us all. United, we must push for change to ensure that every person is paid what she/he/they deserve. Visit dressforsuccess.org to learn more about our organization’s no-fee services and network of support to help unemployed and underemployment women achieve their career and pay equity goals. #DressforSuccess #EqualPayDay #EmpowerWomen

  • This Hispanic Heritage Month, Dress for Success® is proud to highlight the valuable contributions of Hispanic women in our communities and beyond. As of the latest available data in 2024, Latina women make up approximately 10 percent of the female workforce in the United States. This figure reflects their significant presence and growing influence within the workforce (Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics or relevant research organizations.) Hispanic Heritage Month goes from September 15th to October 15th. This week, we celebrate Nia Akins, an inspiring figure who has made significant strides in the world of track and field. Her dedication and achievements as an elite middle-distance runner serve as a powerful reminder of resilience and the importance of representation in sports. Dress for Success® is committed to empowering women of all backgrounds and experiences, including women of Hispanic background who may need resources to achieve economic independence.
