Yes, DREAM_PACE is active also in #Osttirol, Austria! We run a Living Lab and the lively discussion with the stakeholders addressed the gaps in public transport and fragmented mobility services, identifying critical challenges. These include deficiencies in connectivity and efficiency within public transport and the disjointed nature of mobility services. Through collaborative efforts, DREAM_PACE Project Partners aims to innovate existing #DRT services and test ideas for enhancing the coverage and digital infrastructure. Thanks to AustriaTech and RegionsManagement Osttirol RMO! DREAM_PACE is an Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme´s project.

We all know that Demand-Responsive-Transport (#drt) is gaining momentum; BUT, still, how to build the service from scratch? How to enhance the current service? As DREAM_PACE we prepared a report “Development scenarios for DRT innovative digital and operational approaches” in which we present the stages of #drt scenarios for each of the project´s pilots (Pavia - Oltrepo, Budapest, Osttirol and Split-Dalmatia County) Full text of the report is available at https://lnkd.in/ebYb-U7x Methodologically, we worked in gathering information on the process, then defined the concept of strategy development, composing scenarios and scenario evaluation. Ultimately, one scenario per pilot has been selected or newly composed, which will undergo further refinement through a co-design process involving the LLs’ partners and stakeholders. Beyond DREAM_PACE´s pilots, we hope these ideas can be adapted and replicated in other areas! DREAM_PACE is an Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme´s project. https://lnkd.in/ejJ4u7qM

Stories from DREAM_PACE pilot areas: Split-Dalmatia County (HR) June 2024   Due to the unique characteristics of the context, the pilot area of Split-Dalmatia County targets – within the DREAM_PACE project framework – governance and planning, digital and operational innovations in Demand Responsive Transport. The initial idea for the Split-Dalmatia County pilot activity, based on the 2022 Croatian #DRT regulatory framework favourable changes, came perfectly aligned with the Regional Bus network redesign process. This process in fact identified areas in the county that will not be covered with future fixed regional lines, thereby creating a potential for the introduction of #DRT services to complement the network improving accessibility and connectivity in rural and peripheral areas of the county. Following the methodology elaborated in DREAM_PACE, a broad range of stakeholders engaged in co-creation sessions contributed to the definition of the demo area (around the municipalities of #Dugopolje, #Trilj, and #Dicmo), and alternative service development scenarios have been discussed according to citizens’ mobility needs. The demo focuses on the implementation of a first of a kind demand-responsive service in Croatia, to be scaled up in different rural and sparsely populated areas, whose contracting will be performed according to a DRT-as-a-Service schemes, where transport operators and digital platform providers are expected to partner and provide joint solutions. The implemented service will be monitored, assessed and fine-tuned, in order to provide lessons-learnt for the future service expansions to other areas in the Split-Dalmatia County. #DRT in the future will be integrated in the transport network complementing the regional bus services, contributing to develop seamless sustainable transit across wider territories, providing sustainable alternative to the personal car use. The outcomes of the pilot activity in Split-Dalmatia will also contribute to the integration of DRT solutions within the SUMP approach, and to the definition of the DRT 3.0 Strategy co-designed by the DREAM_PACE project partnership.   The figures are about i) Exemplary map used during the co-creation process and ii) Rural and peripheral areas in Croatia, where DRT will be implemented. How could DREAM_PACE have missed a meeting on #drt? Well, we did not: DREAM_PACE´s team was engaged in the preparation as well as in offering contents for the discussion! Thanks to Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe, Project Dynaxibility and ÜSTRA Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe AG! And thanks to DG Regio and EIT Urban Mobility too. Main takeouts? Governance and regulation are key factors in making #drt thriving. DREAM_PACE is a Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme´s project.

We are proud to announce that the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe, in partnership with Rupprecht Consult, won the prestigious RegioStar Award last year for the Project Dynaxibility project and our DRT-system Flexa! 🌟 Yesterday, we had the honor of discussing innovative concepts in Europe during a Demand-Responsive Transport (DRT) workshop with Slawomir Tokarski, Director of DG REGIO, and Christophe Ebermann from Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme. A big thank you to the representatives from Technische Universität Berlin, EIT Urban Mobility, Redmint, DREAM_PACE and ÜSTRA Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe AG for their inspiring presentations and engaging discussions! 🙌 We see enormous potential in DRT to positively influence public transport and to encourage more people to use it. Successful projects and research across Europe strongly confirm this potential. 🌍🔍 Together, we continue to work towards the future of public transportation! 🚌💡

Some more DRT history today - thanks Josep Laborda for the amazing picture and context - and a request for international collaboration #cooperationiscentral #drt

Bell bottom pants, the birth of the first microprocessor Intel 4004, Harvey Milk elected Mayor of San Francisco, tie dye, Earth Day, and ATMs. The seventies. A decade of pivotal change The 1970s also witnessed the first Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) pilots. Yep, that's right 👉 DRT, the new kid on the block in today's mobility and public transport innovation is, in fact, fast approaching middle-age Fast forward to 2024 and while we can safely say that today's 📲 🚌 DRT is a far cry from the humble beginnings of the seventies, the essence and motivation remain the same. 𝐃𝐑𝐓 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞. Recent developments in operational and vehicle technology, coupled with significant cuts to public transport subsidy budgets, have promoted a willingness to explore options for DRT again. This has once more pushed the concept forward as a possible option for saving money while retaining opportunities for accessibility The renewed interest in DRT as a mobility solution could be attributed not only to direct technological improvements to the DRT product in terms of routing and scheduling software and app-based technology with more attractive user-centric design but also to indirect technological implications arising from the widespread adoption of smartphones mean DRT is now potentially more efficient and effective than ever before. Coupled with wider societal trends including an aging population and cuts to public transport subsidy budgets, recent developments have pushed us at the forefront of mobility innovation ecosystems to revisit DRT. This time with a fresh pair of eyes Until recently such flexible transport options have largely been focused on meeting the needs of mobility-impaired passengers or the community transport sector. Given recent developments, it's now time to take a wider look at a variety of use cases, from dial-a-ride to rural public transport, corporate shuttles, night buses, and school bus services. Socio-economic and technological shifts are what appear to be pushing DRT to become increasingly mainstream and integrated within the wider mobility system to provide improved access, inclusivity, and geographical coverage for our transport networks Excited to 🤝 engage with local stakeholders (e.g., government officials, transportation authorities) and multilateral banks during my upcoming 🛫 trip to 🇺🇸 Washington DC (June 3-7). I'm actively seeking partners to collaborate on projects promoting DRT/microtransit solutions for achieving 'mobility for all' worldwide. Let's bridge the mobility gap together! 📸 A passenger is dropped off by a dial-a-ride service in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1973.
