Thank you to everyone who came out last weekend to the Mid-Summer Festival at the Old Bakery & Emporium. We helped coordinate the third annual festival complete with face painting, hair braiding, flower crown making, local food vendors and traditional Swedish meatballs. We witnessed a beautiful land blessing and listened to Ruben talk about the mural. Hope you all had as much fun as we did!

The newest ARTBOX addition to downtown Austin can be found at the corner of Casear Chavez and Trinity Street! This box was designed and painted by Jamie Prado, who named the box, "Continuum: The Evolution of Downtown Austin". The artist statement begins: "Continuum: The Evolution of Downtown Austin" is a visual journey through time, encapsulating the dynamic transformation of Austin’s urban core from the 1990s to the envisioned future. This piece captures the essence of change, progress, and the enduring spirit of a city known for its eclectic vibrancy and cultural depth."

We expanded our ambassador services to add a Safety Team to address non-emergency, quality of life issues. Safety Team members conduct early morning patrols around all downtown hotels. They request voluntary compliance from those violating city ordinances and provide connections to resources as needed. The program includes bike patrols and overnight security in Republic Square. The Safety Team can be identified with a distinctive fluorescent yellow and black uniform. In the first month of the program, the Safety Team had 601 interactions with people violating ordinances. These interactions had an 81% voluntary compliance rate – meaning 490 interactions resulted in people complying with the Safety Team’s requests.
