When you’re in the business of downtown, you’re in the business of change. Downtown Sacramento has shifted from a place where people went to work, to a place where people go for experiences. Before today, we were operating as two brands. Our mission has always been to Build Value Downtown, but our vision is a place where culture, commerce, and community collide. "Downtown Sacramento Partnership” was heavy on the commerce, while "Downtown Sac” leaned into culture and community. We’re merging these two identities, in part to stop updating two websites, but more importantly, to reflect downtown’s evolution and our role in making it a destination of choice. Everything we thought we knew about downtown has changed. There is no way forward if we don’t reinvent downtown Sacramento. To kick off this season of PBS’s Studio Sacramento, our Executive Director Michael Ault and Board Chair Kipp Blewett sat down with Scott Syphax to discuss the Partnership’s vision for downtown’s path to success. Check out the interview in the link below:

Triple-digit heat summer vacations = downtown’s slow season. But as we found out last year: unique drinks an unbeatable price = a reason to get outside! Our Sunset Sips promotion is back this Wednesday for another season of specialized drinks priced at $9 or less at more than 20 downtown bars, lounges, and restaurants. We designed this experience so our downtown employees can debrief the day while supporting local businesses. Downtown’s Happy Hour runs every Wednesday through August from 4-7 p.m. Click the link below to see full the list of participating businesses:

The Downtown Roller Rink is officially open! 🎉🛼 Producing experiences that make people proud to be from Sacramento in kinda HOFisbetter's thing. That’s why we’re presenting the roller rink to fill Ali Youssefi square with an experience as dynamic as our city is with DJs, dancing, family-friendly entertainment, and pop-ups throughout the summer. Summer is vacation time and a slow period for our businesses, so we knew this was a unique opportunity to keep the area busy and people-centric. We’re proud of our community partners like HOF who work with us to keep downtown vibrant throughout the year.

Exciting movement for a project, championed by Downtown Sacramento Partnership, that will fundamentally change downtown’s DNA! Congresswoman Doris Matsui is requesting up to $5 million in federal funding to jumpstart the planning of the Riverfront Reconnection Project — a plan to cap a portion of I-5 to reconnect Capitol Mall and the Crocker Park and Museum to the waterfront. Downtown was cut off from our city’s greatest asset in the redevelopment era of the 1950’s and 60’s, which also saw the removal of the historic West End and Japantown district where I-5 now sits. This project serves as this generation’s greatest opportunity to repair the divide and create a more livable central neighborhood with a low-barrier, accessible community gathering place. We are excited to partner with the City of Sacramento to bring this project to fruition!
