Create, manage, optimize, and scale content across channels with dotCMS
About us
dotCMS is a content management system that helps global enterprises with multiple brands, product lines, or franchises that oversee several locations that struggle with the complexities of managing hundreds to thousands of sites and applications across their company. Not only do they need to manage multiple websites, but they also need to localize and customize content across languages and channels. Brands such as Dairy Queen, Newell, Firstmac, Telus, and Wordline have chosen dotCMS for its unique ability to manage thousands of sites and consolidate multiple CMSs’ onto a single, unified instance of dotCMS to streamline content operations across teams while saving money on platform costs. dotCMS’ hybrid approach to content management also means that companies have the choice to deliver content traditionally or headlessly. Developers can use dotCMS headlessly and build the front end in their framework of choice while still giving marketers visual editing tools right within dotCMS so they can manage pages and layouts and go to market with their business-critical content without being dependent on technical teams. dotCMS is committed to following the highest security standards in the business and is SO2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022 certified, so IT teams can rest assured that their data is protected in dotCMS Cloud. While some IT teams may prefer to maintain full control over their data, dotCMS has flexible deployment options, and organizations can run dotCMS in their own cloud environment, Not all organizations have the in-house resources they need to execute their digital strategy. To ensure the success of every dotCMS customer, we provide best-in-class support and dedicated customer experience teams. Our global partner network can help with everything from strategy to complete implementation, and we offer additional professional services packages for ongoing maintenance, go-live support, and best practices consulting.

Yesterday's product announcement from Contentstack highlights yet again, as I've said all year, that the era of "pure" headless CMS is dead. Here, even one of the most popular headless CMS vendors is admitting that full architectural purity in their core product is now a clear disadvantage. Pure headless CMSs have long been incomplete in the realms of visual editing and assembly in headless architectures, given their focus on developers at the expense of content teams. Now, faced with challenging economic conditions and marketer discontent, they're changing course. Contentstack is only the latest in a headless CMS conga line to implement headless visual building. The reality is that with each passing day, headless CMSs are becoming increasingly architecturally impure as they rush to build features that have long been the bread and butter of hybrid-headless CMSs for many years. At the same time, hybrid-headless CMSs are now more competitive as they shore up APIs, SDKs, and other developer tooling. Are headless CMSs truly "headless" when they violate their own separation of concerns? What's clear is that the tired, myopic distinction of "headless vs. not headless" is no longer useful. With headless and traditional CMSs engaging in such clear convergent evolution toward agnostic headless visual builders, we've entered a new era of the CMS: the #UniversalCMS. Let's move beyond headless and beyond monolithic, with a focus on both content teams and developer teams for the content architectures of tomorrow.
