We found that the DoD developed an effective strategy to meet the 155mm High Explosive ammunition total munitions requirements, balancing war reserve, training, and testing requirements after the President authorized 55 drawdowns of equipment and services from DoD stocks and defense services for the government of Ukraine. Army and Marine Corps officials were able to substitute an older variant of ammunition to preserve the newer version for on-hand inventory, compare worldwide inventories against global floor requirements on a weekly basis, and increase production of 155mm High Explosive ammunition. This month, IG Robert P. Storch spoke at AGA’s annual Professional Development Training. On a panel alongside the IGs from the National Archives and Records Administration and the Federal Communications Commission, IG Storch discussed how the DoD OIG is addressing the challenges in conducting oversight presented by the size and complexity of the DoD, as well as some of the challenges across the oversight community. He spoke to the need for increased collaboration in the oversight community, which enables organizations to increase their impact and innovation in addressing topics of common interest.
