Healthcare design requires that we deliver not only a highly-specified functional environment, but that we also create an aesthetic that is both efficient for practitioners and comforting to patients. For multiple projects at St. Peter’s University Hospital, that meant focusing on the spatial experience, recognizing its impact on both services and healing. #NJarchitects

At DMR, where we have helped deliver celebrated projects such as the Frank J. Gargiulo Campus, the Ridgefield Municipal Complex, and most recently, the Blanquita B. Valenti Community School, a common thread runs through them: Janet Pini. Janet is a key reason why DMR is able to deliver the projects it has become known for, a professional that is somehow able to excel at any service and every project phase – from digesting and communicating complicated codes to addressing issues at the construction site in real time – all while mentoring and educating others so they are better equipped to do the same on another project. Congratulations to Janet for being honored as an NJBIZ Leader in Real Estate, Design and Construction!

Every day is different when you are DMR Chairman & Founder Lloyd Rosenberg and yesterday happened to be filled with lots of celebration. The day began in Somerset at the NJBIZ Leaders in Real Estate, Construction and Design where he was on hand to celebrate both a 22-year veteran of the DMR team, Janet Pini, and the Blanquita B. Valenti Community School, the new K-8 school in New Brunswick, a district where DMR has delivered more than 30 projects. In the evening, it was off to Carlstadt to support the Meadowlands YMCA, a neighbor who we got to know well when we were part of the team that delivered their first permanent, full-time building in 2017. Many friends of DMR were honored, including Jim Kirkos, Ron Simoncini and Jane Egan, and even more were there to also support the great work of the YMCA. Please join us in congratulating the many who were honored yesterday! #DMRcultureofcommitment

Modern school projects continue to call for flexible spaces that promote divergent learning and collaboration – and the requests are coming from all around the school building: from places you might anticipate, like a science classroom, to the hallways that might once have been a place simply for circulating. Here’s six places that show there is no limit to the spaces that can be transformed to embrace various learning modalities and socialization goals ▶. #NJarchitects

A reimagined Center Avenue Park in Atlantic Highlands may soon be on its way following the completion of a process that engaged local residents in the design. 400 respondents first weighed in during a community survey, and later, 80 residents attended a series of workshops at which they were invited to lay out their design ideas on paper. Led by Francis Reiner, DMR combined all ideas into a final concept which will be considered for implementation. #NJPlanners

A concept for new, 200 space municipal parking garage on Parker Avenue in Passaic was recently unveiled, a step forward in relieving parking concerns in the neighborhood of the new Muhammad Ali School No. 23. DMR’s design calls for a garage that not only meets practical needs, but also offers welcoming and engaging public space and a revenue-generating solar panel superstructure. #NJarchitects
