🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 We're thrilled to announce that d.light has secured a USD$176 million securitization facility to expand affordable off-grid solar solutions in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda! 🌍✨ Partnering with African Frontier Capital, this new facility will support consumer loans for solar and high-efficiency appliances, reaching an estimated six million people over the next three years. This multi-currency financing allows us to scale our PayGo consumer finance model, making renewable energy accessible to low-income households and communities without electricity. 🔋🌞 d.light CEO Nedjip Tozun said, “This is a landmark step in our mission to provide affordable, clean, and sustainable energy. It enables us to expand our reach so that many more off-grid households and communities can benefit from solar energy.” This achievement marks a significant milestone, bringing our total securitized financing to USD$718 million across five facilities since 2020. Thank you to African Frontier Capital and our dedicated team for making this possible. Together, we’re lighting up lives and empowering communities! 💡🤝 https://lnkd.in/gDAf9Wsr #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #ImpactInvestment #FinancialInclusion #dlight #AfricanFrontierCapital #SustainableEnergy #PayGo #OffGridSolar #CleanEnergy #Renewables #TransformingLives

Taking the road less travelled, filled with many a hurdle, but many lessons learnt in order to try and change the world and give power and light to people with no access to the grid. D.light’s story as recounted by Sam Goldman is one that is both inspiring but also holds great insights for people aspiring to enter the solar energy market. # SolarSolutions #OffGrid

Statement on the death of Nick Imudia, d.light CEO It is with immense sadness that d.light shares the news of the death of our Chief Executive Officer, Nick Imudia. Nick died suddenly earlier this week at his home in the suburb of Lekki in Lagos State, Nigeria. In light of this tragic event, d.light’s Board of Directors has appointed the company co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer Nedjip Tozun as interim CEO. Nedjip previously served as d.light CEO from March 2015 until October 2022 and will assume the responsibilities effective immediately to ensure continuity in d.light’s operations. “Nick was a dear friend and a valued colleague who will be greatly missed by everyone at d.light. All our thoughts are with Nick’s family, friends and loved ones during this very difficult time,” said Tozun. “Nick was appointed CEO of d.light in October 2022 at a very challenging time for the company and the wider off-grid solar energy market,” he continued. “One of Nick’s enduring legacies is d.light’s healthy and robust position today, which is due in large part to his hard work, dedication and extraordinary leadership. “We will honour Nick’s memory by continuing to serve our customers and tirelessly pursuing d.light’s goal to transform and improve the day-to-day lives and opportunities of people and families through access to sustainable products.”
