Recently, DKS's Mareeya Tongkul and Stephanie L. joined the APWA Southern California Chapter Young Professionals from various consulting firms, Caltrans, and the City of Los Angeles for a twilight harbor cruise to explore the impressive operations of the Port of Long Beach! ️ The tour was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the Port's handling of over nine million containers annually. Highlights included: 🞄 A close-up view of the Port's fireboats. 🞄 Insight into the daily operations involving automated tractors and equipment. 🞄 A fascinating discussion on the Port's 300-camera pan-tilt-zoom system, enhancing traffic management and security. Additional highlights featured local attractions in Queensway Bay, such as the Queen Mary and the historic lighthouse. The Young Professionals also explored the structural integrity of the Long Beach International Gateway Bridge, a stunning addition to the City of Long Beach's skyline, completed in 2020. Thank you to Mareeya and Stephanie for representing DKS at this insightful event! #DKSAssociates #APWASoCal #YoungProfessionals #PortOfLongBeach #ZeroEmission #Infrastructure #TransportationInnovation

Big congratulations to our outstanding team! DKS is honored to be part of the team that received the California Transportation Foundation's Complete Streets Project of the Year Award for the City of Westminster's Garden Grove Boulevard Complete Streets Project. As a proud member of the Mark Thomas-led team, DKS played a pivotal role in this transformative project. The team delivered landscape, civil engineering, ITS, and traffic signal design, focusing on implementing a Class IV bikeway along the north side of Garden Grove Boulevard. DKS developed the ITS, traffic signal, video image detection system lighting design, and railroad signal preemption coordination, seamlessly integrating these systems into the City of Westminster’s Transportation Management Center. Additionally, DKS updated the signal timing and coordination along the corridor to accommodate the new bike phase. We want to thank our incredible project partners: the City of Westminster, CA Public Works Department, Mark Thomas, Fehr & Peers, and Lynn Capouya, Inc. Landscape Architects. This prestigious award is a testament to the relentless dedication and hard work of everyone involved. Thank you to all who supported this effort over the years! Congratulations to all the project finalists! #CivilEngineering #TransportationAward #CompleteStreets #Teamwork #Innovation #Infrastructure #SustainableTransport #WestminsterCA #DKSAssociates #SmarterTransportation #TransformingFuture
