Here's a really interesting story out of Louisville, which is considering "partial" utility municipalization to meet its ambitious #climate goals. But how much would it cost? We got our hands on a new study to find out. Louisville Metro Government wants to decarbonize community-wide by 2040. But their utility, LG&E, gets 84% of its power from coal. The rest comes from natural gas with just 1% of #renewables in the mix. And the city sits outside of MISO and SPP, so they depend on their utility's existing programs. Unlike other municipalization efforts that involve taking over existing #utility infrastructure, Louisville explored building its own distribution lines to power city buildings that would connect to a city-built transmission tie to MISO. What would it cost? We break down a feasibility study from Siemens Energy with Sumedha Rao, the executive director of the city mayor's sustainability office, in this article and video: https://lnkd.in/egB_qZg7

Federal prosecutors want ‘multi-year’ sentence for former JEA CEO Aaron Zahn. Zahn was charged with the wire fraud and conspiracy in 2022, along with former JEA chief financial officer Ryan Wannemacher. The pair was tried together, the Times-Union reported, but Wannemacher was ultimately acquitted of the charges. A jury found Zahn guilty of wire fraud and conspiracy in March. http://ow.ly/FFwU105C8jP
