Imagine a room full of people dedicated to get the Ukrainian healthcare system backed up. This happened today at the Ukrainian House in Washington D.C. where the incredible team of Direct Relief brought some of the pharmaceutical industry partners together with the Ukrainian Ambassador her Excellence Oksana Markarowa and the Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine for European Integration Maryna Slobodnichenko. Both shared valuable insights and informed us about the measures taken to rebuild infrastructure, one very moving example was the recently shelled Okhmatdyt Children’s hospital in Kiev. Thanks to Thomas Tighe and his fantastic crew there was space where we connected and developed new ways how to support the people of Ukraine 🇺🇦 Susan Anderson and I had the privilege to represent #teamBayer who is on the side of the Ukrainian people and will continue to support. We are dedicated to be there for our 600 colleagues based in Ukraine as well as for the patients and farmers who deserve good healthcare and modern agricultural solutions. There is something that united all of us in that room: we support, because we see the need. It’s voluntarily, but not pressured. And that is much more than the tons of donated medicines, millions of dollars and other support this group is organizing since more than 880 days. It is standing-by a country that is fighting for democracy and freedom of an area far beyond their borders. Things we take for granted while their braveness is challenged on the frontlines-every given day. Personally I am very proud to collaborate as we believe that the direction has to be given by the Ukrainians and their government, so their priorities will be ours 🇺🇦🇩🇪🇺🇸 Bayer BAYER U.S. LLC Oliver Gierlichs Vitaliy Fedchuk Tom Roane Katerina Takovska Helga Flores Trejo Julia Duncan Max Müller Andrea Acerbi Monika Lessl, PhD Kati Nyman Britta Jacob

Monthly free clinics, which Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) offers in communities across southern and central Puerto Rico, address several issues at once, from reducing pressure on emergency services to combating an island-wide shortage of medical providers. These roving community clinics have been providing free care since 2022, and they’ve reached more than 1,400 underserved patients thus far. https://lnkd.in/emv8edrv

🇺🇦 Yesterday we finished up the first full national meeting of Direct Relief partner organizations in #Ukraine in quite some time. Although everyone agrees that the war is precariously balanced at this moment, their spirits remain high. 🚑 These are people from almost every corner of the country who have spent the past 2 years delivering medicine, providing emergency care (both physical and mental), performing reconstructive surgeries, fitting children with prosthetics, collecting data, repairing power supplies, and making sure that health care supply chains heavily burdened by conflict do not break. 👫 It's a marvel to hear their ideas and their passion, hopes, and persistence. We really owe it to them and the communities they support not to let them down as the geopolitical plate tectonics shift beneath our feet.

With 2024’s Atlantic hurricane season shaping up to be as active as early forecasts had predicted, Medical Professionals On a Mission (MPOM) is using a grant from Direct Relief to organize and equip a rapid-response team of Caribbean expatriate medical professionals working in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, all ready to quickly deploy to the Caribbean islands to help residents recover from hurricanes. The grant will be used in part to create the communications systems needed to coordinate a roster of volunteers who deploy to a stricken country, and real-time monitoring systems to track the availability and deployment of medical resources. https://lnkd.in/eQrYfWjR.

Following Hurricane Beryl, Spring Branch Community Health Center experienced power outages for several days across its eight clinics. Despite obstacles, the clinics continued to provide care to those impacted by the storm. Spring Branch Community Health Center received an emergency health kit, eight emergency medical backpacks, and 20 hygiene kits from Direct Relief. Direct Relief will continue to work closely with partners to meet health care needs in affected communities, and is committed to replenishing supplies and increasing medical resilience via its Hurricane Preparedness Program. https://lnkd.in/eZM4p_p6
