New tech can be scary, and that's especially the case for disruptive artificial intelligence tools. But educational leaders should approach these innovations with curiosity and openness, even when they seem daunting. The key is to have a growth mindset and to actively engage with emerging technology. Democracy Prep Public Schools CEO Natasha Trivers worked with a team of fellow education leaders through the ASU GSV Summit fellowship to develop a new AI tool for districts called LearnKit.ai. Among the team’s key takeaways was a growth mindset. By adopting a learning stance and actively engaging with emerging tools, leaders can unlock transformative opportunities for both their students and educators. They also learned it was critical to engage peers across different districts, which can lead to more robust and widely applicable solutions. Successful integration of AI in education also requires buy-in from various stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, students, and even board members. As AI tools evolve, Democracy Prep Public Schools CEO Natasha Trivers is working to make sure that districts are prepared to leverage them effectively and ethically. During the yearlong Google GSV Education Innovation Fellowship (ASU GSV Summit), she worked with fellow educators to develop LearnKit.ai, a platform designed to help school districts create comprehensive AI strategic plans reflecting the values of their communities. So far, 60 organizations have signed up to use the tool since it launched in April. “I’m really excited to just use it as a tool to make the work more efficient for teachers and use it as a tool to unlock more learning for students,” Natasha says. Our fierce CEO, Natasha Trivers, knows that AI is here to stay. Through the ASU GSV Summit Fellowship, Natasha has been able to develop a comprehensive, ethical approach to integrating Al into Democracy Prep Public Schools, despite initial reservations. https://bit.ly/487wzDL But while she admits she was initially fearful of the implications of AI in society, she realized that not doing anything would leave our scholars at a disadvantage. “It’s essential that our scholars and the communities we serve have access to AI tools so that they are not left behind as technology rapidly evolves,” Natasha said. Her project, called LearnKit.ai, is focused on bringing the integration of generative AI into education via the development of a tool that guides teachers and educational leaders at all/multiple levels through the creation of training and policy resources. The interactive tool serves as a resource to support various stakeholders in the education ecosystem. She worked with Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez, Dr. Cameron Fadjo, and Dr. Tommy Welch. Check out the video below to hear Natasha talk about the fellowship and how she hopes to help shape the future of AI in education through an equity lens. #GoogleGSVFellowship #DemocracyPrep

Public Speaking and Performance Coach, Client Success Manager, Virtual Coaching and Development Manager,
✨ I started my 4th year teaching at Bronx Prep on Tuesday, and as always, the first day was full of energy, excitement, and a bit of chaos. Managing the anticipation of new freshmen while navigating the familiar rhythms and angst of returning students (especially the seniors who were babies yesterday) is both challenging and promising. 🎒This year, I’m focused on helping my students break past their established routines by introducing them to systems and atomic habits (James Clear has been going viral as I can see and I’m listening to his book on repeat). 🚀We’re working on small, daily habits that will build into long-term success, and I’m encouraging them to reflect on their own patterns, challenge themselves, and grow. Here are a few things I’m keeping in mind as we move forward: 🔹 Consistency & Structure: Setting up routines early on to create a solid foundation for growth. 🔹 Growth Mindset: Reinforcing the idea that with effort and persistence, anyone can improve. 🔹 Reflection & Accountability: Encouraging students to look at their habits and refine them for continuous progress. 📚Engaging students isn’t just about teaching content—it’s about fostering habits that will serve them well beyond the classroom. Relational equity will beat any system, but a lack of systems will lead to ruin. 🌱 As we dive deeper into the year, I’m excited to see how these young minds will grow, adapt, and thrive. Here’s to a productive and successful year ahead!
